Slayer[edit | edit source]
Combat is best trained through Slayer. It would be best to familiarize yourself with some Combat concepts before beginning Slayer. As a fledgling slayer, tier-40 gear like Rune equipment, Dragonhide, Mystic or better is strongly suggested for optimal results. Getting Slayer tasks from higher Slayer masters based on your level allows for more experience to be gained. Thus, players starting out should seek the highest-levelled Slayer master accessible to them, and use the highest one every tenth task for best results. Also, it would be a good idea to skip tasks that are too far, dangerous (i.e. Wilderness), or consume too much food.
- Reaching a Slayer master:
- Teleporting via your house, jewellery (e.g. Amulet of glory), Fairy Rings, or the NPC Contact Lunar Spell makes the Slayer masters quickly accessible.
Slayer Master | Location | Requirement(s) | Teleportation | Details |
---|---|---|---|---|
Turael | Burthorpe | Any level | Burthorpe Games Room teleport, Games necklace, or Combat bracelet | It's wise to skip him since he doesn't give points. His tasks aren't proficient either. You should only use him if your Combat level isn't sufficient for the other Slayer masters or to override a difficult task that he doesn't assign at the expense of gaining points in which your accumulated task streak will reset. Thus, it'll harm your streak and require four additional tasks in a row from Mazchna or a better master to re-amass. |
Mazchna | Canifis | Priest in Peril and ![]() |
Ectophial or Kharyll Teleport | Skip him unless you have said teleports or are doing your first four Slayer tasks. |
Vannaka | Edgeville Dungeon | ![]() |
Amulet of glory, Paddewwa Teleport, or Ancient Magicks' Home Teleport | The Slayer skill should start with him! He usually assigns 60 to 120 kills per task. Try using him until you're 80 Combat or can utilize level-60 equipment (e.g. Dragon items) for best results. |
Chaeldar | Zanaris | Lost City and ![]() |
Fairy Rings | 80 Combat is recommended since she assigns tough tasks at 110 to 170 kills per task. She's good for intermediate slayers though. |
Nieve | Tree Gnome Stronghold | ![]() |
Spirit Tree or Gnome Glider | Let advanced Slayer commence! She usually assigns 120 to 185 kills per task. Level 70 in all Melee stats plus is strongly recommended. |
Duradel | Shilo Village | Shilo Village |
Karamja Gloves 3 | He's the best master in the game. He usually assigns 130 to 200 kills per assignment. |
Quest | Reason | Yes/No |
---|---|---|
Dwarf Cannon | For those who can afford it, the ability to buy and use a Dwarf multicannon is essential as it can greatly speed up tasks especially on Dagannoths, Kalphite Soldiers, Black demons, Bloodvelds, Hellhounds, Aberrant spectres, and Suqahs. | Yes |
Priest in Peril | Mazchna and the Slayer Tower become accessible after doing said quest. | Yes |
Ghosts Ahoy | The Ectophial makes reaching Canifis, Mazchna, and Slayer Tower easier. | Yes |
Rum Deal | Fever spiders become available once said quest is completed. Also, the Holy wrench helps save on Prayer potion consumption. | Yes |
The Grand Tree | Nieve could be reached a lot easier via the Spirit tree, Gnome gliders, and the Agility shortcut from Barbarian Outpost with the latter requiring 37 Agility. | Yes |
Horror from the Deep | Doing said quest provides access to the Dagannoths in the Lighthouse, which are weaker than the much stronger Waterbirth Dagannoths and yield excellent XP rates when using a cannon. | Yes |
Lunar Diplomacy | Said quest unlocks Suqahs as a task in which a cannon fares well against them. Also, it gives access to Lunar Magicks. | Yes |
Shilo Village | With the aforementioned quest, Duradel becomes available, and adding Karamja gloves 3 makes him easily reachable. | Yes |
Fairytale II - Cure a Queen | Reaching the point where the Fairy rings become accessible will suffice. The quest doesn't have to be completed. | Yes |
Barbarian Training | Barbarian Training opens up the Ancient Cavern where Mithril dragons and Waterfiends can be fought, but avoid Waterfiends as a task. Tai Bwo Wannai Trio is required in order to complete your barbaric training and be able to make and wield spears and hastae. | Yes |
Tai Bwo Wannai Trio | ||
Shades of Mort'ton | Shades of Mort'ton introduces shades as a possible task. Additionally, the Shades of Mort'ton minigame teleport yields an alternate route into Morytania especially if Nature Spirit, which allows access to Mort Myre Swamp, and In Search of the Myreque, which unlocks the Myreque shortcut for easier travel to and from Canifis. Furthermore, Burgh de Rott becomes available after In Aid of the Myreque where a bank can be found as well as vampires to the west, which could be slain. | Yes |
Nature Spirit | ||
In Search/In Aid of the Myreque | ||
Ernest the Chicken | Unless you want Ava's device from Animal Magnetism, avoid this quest because Mazchna and Vannaka could assign Killerwatts. Otherwise, do it after you've moved on from Vannaka, or you might get one of the worst tasks ever. | No |
Cabin Fever | Although Cave horrors could drop Black masks and are decent, Jungle horrors aren't. | No |
Regicide | At lower levels, elves could be a real pain, and you have to travel far to reach them, so it's advised to steer away from this quest. | No |
The Lair of Tarn Razorlor and Haunted Mine | Haunted Mine can be completed to make Salve amulets, which work well against the undead. Doing Tarn's Lair, however, brings about Terror dogs, which is a subpar task that should be cancelled or skipped. | No |
Doing the task at hand:
- All masters
- Get an enchanted gem from your Slayer master in order to communicate with him or her while on the road. Also, buy any necessary Slayer equipment, but don't buy too much as you should only seek what's necessary to complete the task at hand. Special equipment needed should always be prioritized over conventional gear.
- Turael
- Mazchna
- Complete your first four assignments from Mazchna before advancing, and avoid using Turael altogether. Skip or cancel Killerwatts, Infernal Mages, and Jellies.
- Vannaka
- Get level-40 gear (e.g. Rune equipment) or better, and go see Vannaka. He's good all the way to around level 60 Slayer and mid-60s in sufficient Melee stats. Skip or cancel Killerwatts, Infernal Mages, Green dragons, Jellies, Terror dogs, and Jungle horrors.
- Chaeldar
- Vannaka can continue to be used with Chaeldar being used on every tenth task, but she could be very tough if you lack sufficient stats in the 60s or Dragon weaponry. Skip or cancel Mutated zygomites, Infernal Mages, Jungle horrors, Jellies, Spiritual rangers, and Green dragons.
- Nieve
- If your Combat level is mid-to-high 80, then Nieve is your best bet. Skip or cancel Scabarites, Terror dogs, Kurasks, Elves, Goraks, Spiritual warriors, Waterfiends, and Zygomites.
- Duradel
- Skip or cancel Zygomites, Spiritual rangers, Kurasks, Jellies, Infernal Mages, Elves, Goraks, and Waterfiends.
Although a Dwarf Multicannon is disallowed in a myriad of spots, it can be used in the Stronghold Slayer Cave [1] except at the watery areas inhabited by Gargoyles, Nechryaels, Abyssal demons, and Waterfiends. A cannon pays huge dividends and provides a barrage of XP at Dagannoths, Kalphite Soldiers, Black demons, Bloodvelds, Hellhounds, Aberrant spectres, and Suqahs if positioned correctly. Generally, tasks average around 15,000 to 20,000 XP hourly, but a cannon accelerates it to upwards of 30,000 to 60,000 XP an hour.
If using Ranged, then no additional weapon is needed, but enchanted bolts, such as Emerald bolts (e), possess special effects and can be used in lieu of a special attack weapon coupled with your regular ammo.
Warning: Also, never fight dragons when wielding two-handed weapons since they replace the shield slot, thus leaving you highly susceptible to their deadly dragon-fire damage, and always wield an Anti-Dragon Shield or Dragonfire Shield when facing them.
Certain creatures, such as Bloodvelds, Pyrefiends, and Killerwatts, use magical-melee attacks, so it's best to wear Ranged armour like dragonhides instead of conventional Melee gear. You can still wield Melee weaponry though.
Additionally, certain creatures can only be slain with certain items, so Slayer equipment should be prioritized over any piece of equipment.
- ↑ An axe and 72 Agility are needed for easy navigation through Stronghold Slayer Cave.
- ↑ 2.0 2.1 2.2 2.3 2.4 2.5 The Slayer helmet, which requires 55 Crafting, costs 400 Slayer reward points and should always be worn when slaying especially since it gives bonuses and incorporates all facial protection. The imbued version costs 1,250,000 Nightmare Zone points.
- ↑ The Serpentine helm is currently considered the best helm in the game, but it's slightly outclassed by Verac's helm.
- ↑ As far as Barrows head gear goes, Verac's helm is the best followed by Torag's or Guthan's helm at second, and Dharok's helm comes in last.
- ↑ 5.0 5.1 5.2 5.3 5.4 5.5 5.6 5.7 5.8 All Barrows equipment degrades, but it offers the best Defence stats in the whole game surpassing all other armour.
- ↑ 6.0 6.1 The Bandos chestplate is tied with the Fighter's torso for the top Strength bonus, but the former is one-up on Prayer and offers far better Defence bonuses than the latter.
- ↑ Despite Verac's brassard having slightly lower Defence than the Bandos chestplate, it still offers decent Defence, which is better than the Dragon chainbody, and it also has more Prayer bonus, but it degrades like all Barrows equipment.
- ↑ Bandos tassets offers the best Strength bonus and doesn't degrade.
- ↑ 9.0 9.1 Verac's plateskirt yields the best Defence and moderate Prayer bonus as the best leg wear in the game.
- ↑ Torag's or Dharok's platelegs are the second best leggings in the game only succeeded by Verac's plateskirt since Verac's plateskirt has Prayer.
- ↑ 11.0 11.1 The Dragonfire Shield has greater Strength and Defence bonuses, but the Dragon defender has better Attack bonuses. Aside from defensive purposes, the DFS, or the weaker Anti-Dragon Shield, needs to be equipped when slaying dragons, and adding Antifires nullifies all damage from dragonbreath.
- ↑ 12.0 12.1 The Abyssal whip is a superior slashing weapon and almost always is the best choice overall.
- ↑ 13.0 13.1 Considered the best one-handed weapon for training Strength, the Abyssal dagger is surpassed by the Zamorakian hasta as a stab weapon due to higher accuracy, a Prayer bonus and defensive stats, but the hasta can only give shared or Defence XP.
- ↑ 14.0 14.1 14.2 14.3 The Zamorakian hasta is the most ideal and flexible single-hand weapon for crushing Gargoyles and Waterfiends and stabbing dragons especially since it can be wielded alongside a shield unlike the Zamorakian spear requiring two hands despite possessing the same stats.
- ↑ 15.0 15.1 Although inferior to the whip, a Dragon scimitar could still suffice and is considered one of the best weapons for training Strength.
- ↑ 16.0 16.1 Although the Saradomin sword has the same slash bonus as a whip, it can't be used in conjunction with a shield.
- ↑ 17.0 17.1 Although the Leaf-bladed sword is one of three melee weapons needed to damage Turoths and Kurasks, the others being the Leaf-bladed battleaxe and Leaf-bladed spear, and has good stab bonus, it could precede the Dragon scimitar, but the scimitar is more accurate and stronger.
- ↑ 18.0 18.1 The Brine sabre has slightly better stats than the Rune scimitar if you can afford it or get lucky from killing Brine rats, which requires Olaf's Quest.
- ↑ 19.0 19.1 Verac's helm is one of the best helmets in the game, but in terms of Prayer bonus, it's one-upped by the Proselyte sallet.
- ↑ 20.0 20.1 20.2 20.3 Wearing an Amulet of the damned bolsters the Verac's set Prayer bonus to surpass Proselyte armour.
- ↑ Use Chaos gauntlets if casting Bolt spells.
- ↑ The Trident is the best magical weapon around especially against metal dragons, but don't forget the Anti-Dragon Shield!
- ↑ The Staff of the dead is great for delivering high hits and saving runes, but it relies on spells whereas the Trident has it's own rechargeable built-in spell.
- ↑ Similar to the Trident, Iban's upgraded staff has its own spell, Iban Blast, which can deal devastating damage under the right conditions.
- ↑ The Slayer's staff is able to auto-cast Magic Dart, Crumble Undead, and Wave spells.
- ↑ An elemental staff, with the best being the Smoke staff, helps cover the priciest rune type depending on your most efficient spell by offering infinite runes of the corresponding element.
- ↑ 27.0 27.1 27.2 27.3 For the Armadyl or Rune crossbow, use Broad bolts, Adamant bolts or Mithril bolts as ammo.
- ↑ 28.0 28.1 If using a Magic shortbow, it's recommended to use ammo no greater than Mithril.
Note: To avoid being assigned monsters that are tougher than the suggested Combat level, it would be in the player's best interest to arrive 10 Combat levels higher than required before advancing toward a new Slayer master.
- ↑ Complete your first four tasks from Mazchna regardless, so you can gain points immediately afterwards.
- ↑ Nieve, who oversees Stronghold Slayer Cave where slaying should be done, is the second-highest master, so you should have intermediate Slayer down-packed. Now would be the time to start investing in hundreds of Prayer potions, Super sets minus Super defence or Super combat potions, and a couple hundred-thousand cannonballs for serious power-leveling. Full Bandos, Piety, and a Dwarf multicannon are must-haves! Prayer flashing could help conserve Prayer points, but at least 400 potions and 200,000 cannonballs should be ready for your disposal.
- ↑ If seeking 99 Slayer, expect to plow through about 200,000 cannonballs, 400 Prayer potions, and 400 Super attack plus Super strength (or 400 Super combat potions) in a period of around six or seven months.
Tip: Also, refer to the "Beginning Slayer" section for a brief rundown. Warning: Remember certain Slayer monsters require special items to defeat them or mitigate harm. Also, beware of entering certain areas without proper protection or equipment!
Symbol | Meaning | Details |
---|---|---|
Do | Do the task! | Aberrant spectres, Abyssal demons, Aviansies, Black demons, Black dragons, Bloodvelds, Blue dragons, Cave krakens, Dagannoths, Dark beasts, Dust devils, Fire giants, Gargoyles, Greater demons, Hellhounds, Iron dragons, Kalphites, Mithril dragons, Nechryaels, Skeletal wyverns, Smoke devils, Spiritual mages, Steel dragons, and Suqahs are all do-able tasks. |
D/C | It's cannon-able! | Aberrant spectres, Ankous, Black demons, Black dragons, Bloodvelds, Blue dragons, Dagannoths, Dark beasts, Dust devils, Fire giants, Greater demons, Hellhounds, Kalphites, Smoke devils, and Suqahs can be done via cannon. |
C | Cannon with caution. | Using a cannon could impose danger and bring huge drawbacks. Be wary of using it in dangerous and high-risk areas like the Wild, which can get you Skulled and killed. |
N/C | No cannon! | Cannons aren't allowed in the Slayer Tower/Dungeon as well as other areas like boss rooms. |
N/R | It's not recommended! | Certain far-off areas aren't feasible especially if there are closer options. The Wild should always be the last resort unless slaying Green dragons, but if you have sufficient levels, then do Brutal green dragons instead. |
Skip | Skip it! | If not hustling for points, then tasks, such as Bronze dragons, Goraks, Scabarites, Terror dogs, and Waterfiends, should be skipped or blocked. |
Do or don't! | These unmarked tasks generally are done at earlier levels or for hustle points. Use your own discretion! Take note of your top tasks, and set a par line. If it's up to par, above par or superb, then do it. If it yields mediocre-to-abysmal XP or slow rates of XP like newbie tasks, then don't do it. Any subpar tasks should be dropped, skipped, and/or placed on your blocked tasks list. |
Remember that cannon usage is prohibited in both the Slayer Tower and Fremennik Slayer Dungeon! It is permitted, however, in most areas in the SSC except at Gargoyles, Nechryaels, Abyssal demons, and Waterfiends. (GNAW!)
Although a cannon can be utilized in the Wilderness, it's better to refrain from doing so than to risk losing all your items. Warning: Always exercise extreme caution in the Wild especially if planning to use a cannon there, which is never recommended. It's also very unwise and dangerous to take a cannon to the God Wars Dungeon since all factions will pummel you despite that it can be used.
- ↑ A Slayer helmet (i) or Nose peg is required for slaying Aberrant Spectres. You should also wear Magic-resistant gear with a good Melee weapon, or use Protect from Magic and Proselyte armour especially when cannon'ing at the SSC.
- ↑ 2.0 2.1 All denizens of God Wars require an item of their respective god to make them unaggressive.
- ↑ Wearing an Armadyl item is required to gain tolerance from the Aviantese. Additionally, a Zamorak item is required to ward off nearby Zamorak followers if going to the main, non-Wilderness God Wars Dungeon. Entering their area in the main dungeon also requires a Mithril grapple fired via crossbow at 70 Ranged or higher, and they should be attacked with Ranged or tank gear if using Magic. Like the standard dungeon, the Wilderness God Wars Dungeon also requires either 60 Strength or 60 Agility to enter, and you should go only with three or four valuable items in an unpopular, low-populated world. The Strength shortcut in the cave east of the Forgotten Cemetery takes you right to them, so you can bypass the other factions, but beware of PK'ers.
- ↑ A Slayer helmet (i) or Earmuffs is required for slaying Banshees. You should also wear Magic-resistant gear accompanied with a decent Melee weapon of choice.
- ↑ 5.0 5.1 Basilisks and Cockatrices require that a Mirror shield be wielded for protection!
- ↑ After Olaf's Quest, Brine rats can be slain inside Olaf's Dungeon located east of Olaf Hradson and south of the Windswept tree by digging with a spade. Use the Fairy Ring code DKS for quick access.
- ↑ 7.0 7.1 Complete Cabin Fever, so jungle and cave horrors can be slain. A light source is required when entering dark caves such as Mos Le'Harmless Caves. Bring a Bullseye lantern and a Witchwood icon to slay Cave horrors!
- ↑ Horror from the Deep is required to enter the lighthouse to slay Dagannoths there.
- ↑ Slaying dark beasts entails finishing Mourning's End Part II.
- ↑ Ice coolers are required to slay desert lizards per kill, so the number of lizards that you're assigned should at least equal the number of ice coolers in your inventory. Bringing 10 more extra helps since miscues could happen if the lizard's health isn't down enough.
- ↑ 11.0 11.1 A Slayer helmet (i) or Face mask is required for slaying Dust devils and Smoke devils!
- ↑ Fever spiders can only be killed after Rum Deal is complete.
- ↑ Although it's strongly recommended not to slay them, Killerwatts require the completion of Ernest the Chicken and wearing Insulated boots.
- ↑ 14.0 14.1 Barbarian Skills are prerequisites for unlocking the Ancient Cavern where Mithril dragons and Waterfiends are encountered.
- ↑ The Mogre miniquest is required to slay Mogres who can be lured and slain via Fishing explosives. Only one per kill is needed!
- ↑ Lost City is required to reach Zanaris! Ten Fungicides are used as ammo for Fungicide spray and are required to kill each Zygomite.
- ↑ Bags of salt are required to finish off Rockslugs per kill, so the number of slugs that you're assigned to kill should equal the number of bags in your inventory. Bringing 10 more extra helps since miscues could happen if the slug isn't weakened enough.
- ↑ Wearing an Zamorak item is required to gain tolerance from followers of Zamorak. Additionally, a Saradomin item is required to fend off nearby Saradomin followers in the main God Wars Dungeon, but it can be omitted if you run directly northeast. Entering their area will drain your Prayer and also requires 70 Hitpoints or higher. Zamorak's spiritual mages should be only attacked with Protect from Magic activated after replenishing your drained Prayer or damaged stats from the entry via Prayer potions or a Super restore. Don't waste your potion, so use it after you're totally inside!
- ↑ Lunar Diplomacy is required for Suqahs.
- ↑ A light source is required when entering dark caves such as Lumbridge Swamp Caves. It's strongly recommended to bring a Bullseye lantern since other light sources could either damage you or blow out. A Slayer helmet (i) or Spiny helmet is required for slaying Wall beasts.
Slaying Mithril Dragons[edit | edit source]
After paying 80 Slayer reward points, Mithril dragons (level 304), which require Barbarian Training to access them, can be assigned by Duradel and Nieve. They only assign four to nine dragons to be slain, but always come prepared especially for the long haul. Mithril dragons drop Rune items and Blood runes commonly, but their most valuable and highly sought drops are the elusive Draconic visage and the fabled Dragon full helm. Although still rare, the latter can also be obtained by burning pyre ships with the Chewed bones that they also drop.
Strategy and Recommendations[edit | edit source]
- Note: Don't forget to wear a Slayer helmet (i) or Black mask (i) for all Slayer tasks regardless!
Although Melee is probably the least efficient way of killing them especially with an Abyssal whip and sub-90 Melee stats, it can be remedied by equipping a Zamorakian hasta, which is the best stab weapon, with either Verac's or Karil's armor. The Zamorakian hasta is the best choice followed by the Leaf-bladed sword. Using slash weapons such as an Abyssal whip isn’t recommended as the dragons already take long enough to kill.
Players can choose to maximize Melee Defence with Verac's armor and a Dragonfire shield while using Protect from Magic. Alternatively, wear high magical-resistant armor such as Black d'hide or Karil's, and use Protect from Melee. In layman's terms, pray according to your armor's weakness, so activate Protect from Magic if wearing Verac's or Protect from Melee if wearing Karil's. Depending on your protection Prayer[1], their max hit is either 28 with Melee or 18 with Magic or Ranged, so it's strongly advised to stay above 40 HP for safety.

When using Magic or Ranged, players can decide to use either Protect from Missiles if attacking from a distance or Protect from Melee if attacking up close. For Magic, it is recommended to maximize your Magic attack bonus, and use the Trident of the seas or swamp because it hits hard and fast while also being semi cost-effective. Other spells can be far expensive, but using the Trident instead and having some luck can offset your expenses. It works well against all metal dragons and even lava dragons since it can deliver hard and swift hits especially at high levels, and that would be the most logical way. Since Ahrim's gear is prone to Ranged, activate Protect from Missiles, and have Mystic Might activated to increase your Magic. Maintain distance and stay above 40 HP because Mithril dragons can hit 28's via Melee.

Ranged can be feasible and moderate, but Diamond bolts (e) can be costly. It's recommended to maximize Ranged attack bonus and Magic defense bonus. Ruby bolts (e) and Diamond bolts (e) are very useful but consume money. Although it lengthens the kill a bit, Broad bolts can be used instead due to their reasonable cost. Ruby bolts (e) are good for using their special to halve the dragon's HP, but they're no good on a weakened dragon, so they can be paired with your main bolts. Again, when using Magic or Ranged, players can decide to use either Protect from Missiles if attacking from a distance or Protect from Melee if attacking up close. Depending on where you stand, use the correct choice of Prayer[1] Since Ranged armor defends well against Magic, Protect from Magic is ruled out. Also, standing close to the dragon will prompt it to use Melee more than its other styles, so doing that can be more advantageous that keeping distance. Still keep your health at 40 or above though just in case!

Slaying Bronze/Iron/Steel Dragons[edit | edit source]
Although Melee is an efficient way of killing them especially with a Zamorakian hasta, which is the best Stab weapon, use Proselyte armor for Prayer or high-tier armor, such as Bandos or Barrows equipment, for Defence. The Zamorakian hasta is the best choice followed by the Abyssal dagger and Leaf-bladed sword, and lastly followed by Dragon longsword set on stab. Using Slash weapons such as an Abyssal whip is not recommended as the dragons would take longer to kill. Players can choose to either go gung-ho with Prayer or pray occasionally with said armor choices. Also, Piety can be used in conjunction with Protect from Melee. The dragons' max hits are 12, 20, and 22 for Bronze, Iron and Steel Dragons respectively, so it's wise to stay well above their maxes for good cushioning.

Notes:
- ↑ A Dragonfire or Anti-Dragon Shield is always needed when facing dragons of any sort!
- ↑ Wear a Slayer helmet or Black mask if on a Slayer task.
- ↑ A Dragon dagger (p++) is only used to deliver Special attacks that can poison your foe.
- ↑ If using little-to-no Prayer, then 6-7 Prayer potions will do just fine. Otherwise, max your Prayer.
- ↑ Coupling Antifires with said shield neutralizes all Dragonfire damage.
- ↑ Super defence can be omitted from the Super set.
- ↑ A Woodcutting axe is required to cut through vine blockage.
- ↑ It costs 30 coins to charter a ship and 875 coins to enter Brimhaven Dungeon.
- ↑ The Holy wrench helps conserve Prayer potion usage and can be gotten from doing Rum Deal.
- ↑ Some drops are good for Alching on the spot instead of banking.
Although Melee is an efficient way of killing them especially with a Zamorakian hasta, which is the best Stab weapon, use Proselyte armor for Prayer or high-tier armor, such as Bandos or Barrows equipment, for Defence. The Zamorakian hasta is the best choice followed by the Leaf-bladed sword and lastly followed by Dragon longsword set on stab. Skills:

Depending on the spell used, Magic can be a make or break. The most cost-efficient ways for killing these metal dragons involve using a Trident of the seas or casting Fire Bolt with Chaos gauntlets. The best way to obliterate them is by using the Trident since it hits hard and fast while also being semi cost-effective. It works well against all metal dragons including Mithril dragons and even lava dragons since it can deliver swift, hard hits especially at high levels. Always keep a distance of several spaces away from the dragon to avoid its devastating Melee attack! All the caster has to do is make sure his or her Antifire is up to par, and bomb away on them at a distance. As a great alternative to the listed gear choices, Mage Void Knight equipment is also fair game especially since the full set boosts the player's accuracy. Thus, it will make the player's spells hit more frequently.

Notes:
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 An Air staff is only needed alongside Chaos and Fire runes if planning to cast Fire Bolt, but using a Smoke staff since it supplies both Air and Fire runes is strongly suggested. The better Fire spells, namely Fire Blast with Death runes, are costly and not recommended but can also be used in lieu of Fire Bolt nonetheless.
- ↑ A Dragonfire or Anti-Dragon Shield is always needed when facing dragons of any sort!
- ↑ Wear a Slayer helmet (i) or Black mask (i) if on a Slayer task.
- ↑ Use Chaos gauntlets only if casting Fire Bolt!
- ↑ Said runes are only required if planning to cast Fire Bolt.
- ↑ Unlike Melee, Prayer potions are really not needed when using Magic or Ranged unless Mystic Might or Eagle Eye is put into play. Activating Protect from Melee while en route to the dragons could help nonetheless.
- ↑ Coupling Antifires with said shield neutralizes all Dragonfire damage.
- ↑ A Woodcutting axe is required to cut through vine blockage.
- ↑ It costs 30 coins to charter a ship and 875 coins to enter Brimhaven Dungeon.
- ↑ Some drops are good for Alching on the spot instead of banking.
Ranged can be feasible and very economical if using Broad bolts, but using Diamond bolts (e) can be expensive. Although they're the best bolts to use, they're not really worth it, so Broad bolts should be used instead. As a great alternative to the listed gear choices, Ranger Void Knight equipment is also fair game especially since the full set boosts the player's damage. If a special bolt is desired, then bring some Emerald bolts (e) to dish out some poison, and switch to using broads for the remainder of the kill. Always keep a distance of several spaces away from the dragon to avoid its devastating Melee attack! All the archer has to do is make sure his or her Antifire is up to par, and snipe away at a distance.
