Osbuddy[edit source]

Hi, after a brief conversation with the admins in discord at the time, we decided upon deleting the page for OSBuddy, as we thought it a bad idea to have an article on third party software. If you want, we can deliberate further. --dDbvitC.png Scuzzy Beta hib8CAd.png 19:37, February 25, 2017 (UTC)

As I stated in my summary, on the RS3 Wiki there are pages on there dedicated to third party software and Jagex Minigames that have nothing to do with RuneScape.

If this is to be a wiki for all of RuneScape, it should cover the community and the software that Player's use.

Moreover, there is no current overreaching page for OSBuddy and new players may find it hard to access the software. A page on here dedicated to the client most players use on Old School would be most helpful.

Finally, there is a page dedicated to the RuneScape client jagex provides as a download. Most players dont use this client and use OSBuddy instead so isn't it right to have a link to a page going "Most player's use Hyperlink//OsBuddy\\Hyperlink instead. Click here for more information".

It only makes sense to have an OSBuddy page on this site.

Just to finish off. It is a Jagex supported piece of software. This means that the Jagex developers use and encourage people to use the software making it technically, like Minecraft Mods (Which are on their wiki) part of the game and supported by the developers.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 19:43, February 25, 2017 (UTC).

OsBuddy is still a 3rd party client and as a wiki we should not encourage players to use them. Even though a lot of players use it. As long as its not a an offical client by jagex i don't think its propriate to have a page about it on the wiki

Now that you mention it, something has to be done about those pages on the main wiki. --dDbvitC.png Scuzzy Beta hib8CAd.png 19:52, February 25, 2017 (UTC)
"As a wiki we shouldn't encourage players to use them" when Jagex, the founders of the game encourages player's to use OSBuddy by officially supporting the software...  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 18:38, February 27, 2017‎ (UTC).
I do not recall Jagex officially encouraging them to use OSBuddy; I do recall them saying that you use them at your own risk, because they cannot detect or check changes made by their developers. That being said, the decision my colleagues have made is that unless Jagex says "OSBuddy is an authorized third-party client, and it is safe to use", a page for it will not be made. -- Recent uploads SpineTalkContribs 23:33, February 27, 2017 (UTC)
