Lizardman Shaman Rare Drop Table Rates[edit source]
Hello, I was directly to you by Spineweilder, as you were the one who added the information I have questions about.
If I may ask, where did you find the exact drop rates of the Lizardman Shaman's Rare Drop Table? It seems like the values were calculated, but the numbers seem unusual. My friends and I have killed close to 7000 Lizardman Shamans together, and we question the extremely high rarities presented in these drop tables. We usually average around ~150 kills an hour each and we walk away with an average of 2-3 crystal key pieces each, as opposed to the less than 1 that your drop rate would suggest.
Furthermore, Rune Battleaxes, Arrows, Bars, and more, all seem to be far more common on the scale of a multi-thousand sample size than the similar multi-thousand rarity presented by the page.
Finally, though this could just be luck, we both received Dragon Spears, I received a Shield Left Half, and my friend received a Dragon Med helm. All of this in slightly less than 7000 Shamans. Because of this, along with the seeming contradiction by the main Rare Drop Table page, I must ask you have the Lizardman Shaman Rare Drop Table rarities were calculated. Thanks for any help.

Vote in the Weird Gloop elections![edit source]
Hi Gau Cho!
Because of your involvement with the wiki, you are eligible to vote on the candidates for the board of Weird Gloop, the company that hosts the RuneScape and Old School RuneScape wikis.
There are 4 candidates for OSRSW and 4 candidates for RSW, and 1 candidate for pt-RSW. If you'd like to influence who represents the voices of these communities inside the company, I strongly encourage you to vote! You are one of only 204 people that meet the requirements, and this is your opportunity to help shape the future of the wikis.
Combat Calculator[edit source]
I have a couple of suggestions for the calculator.
I was thinking that this section could be improved visually by having an icon of an empty vial that, when clicked, will display a dropdown of all possible boosts for the stat it is next to (if this kind of functionality is possible on the wiki, I'm not sure about the limitations, personally). Although, this might be better implemented in the "Player" section next to the respective stats, which may look a bit cleaner. See https://gyazo.com/5594d36889ac4c3ef1c8fa6a1beec8db for a small visual example.
For prayer, it would be nice to have the standard prayer GUI with toggles next to each prayer rather than a dropdown.
Kudos on the work, by the way.
Profiling and performance[edit source]
I was looking at the profiling data on the slot tables and the bestiary tables, and found that about 90% of the time was spent in SMW queries. I'm guessing the SQL cache is congested. On the pages that are static I guess this isn't a problem due to caching, but the calculators are dynamic.
I also noticed you compile lists of data from SMW, so I was curious if you've done any profiling in this area. How much faster is it would you say, to load data from a file than to get the same data from SMW? --The scribe 08:50, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
- The smw queries are only run once per day, and make two data files: https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/MediaWiki:Gadget-dps-data.js and https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/MediaWiki:Gadget-dps-data2.js. SMW queries were too slow for responsiveness on my combat calculators. I can't tell you much about the query time and other statistics though. Gau Cho (talk) 01:39, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
infobox monster[edit source]
There's a good chance I'll have another crack at cleaning some of the SMW values in Infobox Monster. Looking at the history shows I attempted this on the parameters: attack style, assigned by, slayer category and NPC ID, all of them using a comma separated list. I'm guessing for attack style 'None' should remain a valid value, but for the rest of the parameters I mentioned 'No' and 'N/A' values should not be stored, at least that's the plan. If you want other minor tweaks done while I'm at it, this is a good time for it I suppose. --The scribe 03:52, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
- So far so good. Thanks for checking in! Overall I'm fairly happy with it --Gau Cho (talk) 04:00, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
- As a side note, I would prefer to only support "No" and not "n/a", unless there's some case where that's semantically different. If there are some articles currently using "n/a" i'd want to change those articles to "no" instead. Riblet15 (talk) 04:16, 27 September 2020 (UTC)

Do you have any old computers you played RuneScape on?[edit source]
Hi Gau Cho!
Recently we've been trying to recover lost versions of RuneScape that Jagex didn't save. We're asking anybody who played from 2001-2012 to check old computers, laptops, hard drives, or backups for old RuneScape files.
Your userpage says you've been playing since 2002, so it's very likely that you have one of the missing versions. It would be great if you could search any old devices you may have so that these older versions of RuneScape aren't lost forever.
If you have any questions, feel free to join our Discord which explains the project in full detail, and where people can help guide you through the search. Alternatively you can read our page on the Lost Media Wiki, and leave a message on my talk page.
