Image Stuff[edit source]

Heyo I saw you were uploading some maps earlier! I've also been uploading maps, and I was wondering if you're interested in updating old maps, or if you're just interested in new stuff. Let's talk about it! Oh, and also (before an admin tells you this), when you upload images like [[:File:Safe-spotting Mountain Trolls.png]] make sure to turn off runelite features beforehand. We want the wiki to be as basic as possible, and the weird red outlines (that aren't in the base game) are sorta not great for that. Just something to keep in mind! Thanks again for the images and edits :) BigDiesel2m (talk) 16:10, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for the appreciation! I do general QoL edit, including contributing by adding or updating text, images or maps; think of the reason why they came to the page in the first place. It's very challenging to find anything without any references, for instance, I switched from wiki quest guide to YouTube due to lack of references. For that reason, I feel that maps and images are very beneficial for OSRS wiki and I look forward to contributing some more, as well adding some content to make the page more useful. Regarding the RuneLite comment, I agree with you, and it is essential to maintain consistency throughout the site; I'll either edit or delete until I find a safespotter or safespot myself for a screenshot, in a proper way. It's my first time replying to someone in the talk page; please correct me if I've done anything incorrectly. Satanicha (talk) 17:09, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
Hey sounds good! If there's anything you're wondering about feel free to ask about it in the discord. If you see anything that's missing references or links or whatever, feel free to add them in (which it sounds like you're already doing, so that's good). As for lackluster maps on the wiki, seeing you updating/adding new guide maps reminded me of File:Getting to Keldagrim.png and File:Nature running guide.png, which are both pretty old and might be worth updating? If you're interested, I'm sure you could do a better job than me :P
One more thing, is when you upload images, try to add relevant licensing and categories to the images. The licenses can be found over at RS:LICENSES (a lot of the time, you'll be using Map license, or Location license, I think) and for categories it's not as big a deal but you can look around at other images and see what categories they're in (like Category:Maps in the Kebos Lowlands). For talk page response stuff, I think you did fine. Sometimes people respond ont the other person's talk page but I like having the full conversation in one place, so this works best in my opinion. Thanks again! BigDiesel2m (talk) 18:03, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

RE:Regarding your signature on my Talk page.[edit source]

My signature was sellected at random from a list of active administrators to use and was automatically added by the welcome bot along with the welcome template so that new users are able to easily find an admin should they need to, unfortunately the bot seems to space out the welcome block and whatever signature it applies, I'll ask about getting that fixed so it doesnt appear so wonky. iN008talk 18:49, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

I didn't even know that you were an administrator, and how come you don't reply on the original talk thread? It's the better practice on wiki, at least in my opinion. Satanicha (talk) 23:51, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Maps and other images[edit source]

Hey, it's great to see new people uploading images, however when taking images can you turn off visual runelite/osb plugins such as GPU, anti-aliasing, any overlays, and map icons, as these do not accurately reflect the vanilla game. As for map images with the exception of full area or dungeon maps we tend to take 250x250px images using 100% map zoom (zoom fully then go back 1 step) marking locations with 28x28px blue boxes (#0708ff @ 53.3 opacity). Keep up the good edits and feel free to ask any additional questions on my talk page! iN008talk 19:49, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for the detailed information, is there a page with more details like this for the consistent edit throughout the wiki? I know one image which I wanted to fix for couple days now, but could you let me know which image you were referring to, just in case if there is any other image that needed fixing? Thanks!
