Vengeance is a Lunar spell that rebounds 75% of the damage of the next hit back to their opponent, similar to a ring of recoil. The player will say "Taste vengeance!" when it is activated. A few monsters are immune to it. Vengeance won't be used on poison/disease hits, and also does not count towards Smite drains if used in PvP. Players may only cast Vengeance once every 30 seconds. The spell icon will be slightly greyed out if the spell is still on the cooldown timer.
The reflected damage is always rounded down to the nearest integer, but has a minimum of 1. As an example, if an opponent deals 80 points of damage, the player reflects 60 (80 * 0.75) points of damage. If the opponent instead deals 81 points of damage, the player will still reflect 60 points of damage because 60.75 (81 * 0.75) rounds down. If the opponent deals just 1 point of damage, the player will reflect 1 point of damage back.
This spell is very popular when player killing, especially when an opponent is using hard hitting weapons such as a Godsword or Dharok's because it is possible to rebound large amounts of damage back. Players sometimes remove their armour so their opponent will more likely inflict damage, thus rebounding a potentially strong hit on the enemy with Vengeance. One way to counter Vengeance is to simply strike the player with a lower-hitting weapon to minimise the full potential of this spell, but this method is quite impractical for dangerous PvP situations.
As with all Lunar spells, the quest Lunar Diplomacy must be completed to cast this spell. It cannot be cast while in a player-owned house, and the effect will wear off upon log out or when teleporting into a player-owned house.
This effect stacks with the ring of recoil, along with Dharok's armour set whilst wearing an amulet of the damned. Using the aforementioned setup, it is possible for players to rebound 100% of damage received in a hit onto their opponent.

Changes[edit | edit source]
|6 June 2019
The Vengeance spell no longer disrupts a player's walk animation unless they're already in a PvP area when they cast it, intending to minimise affecting genuine PvP situations while limiting the ability to lure using the spell.
|19 September 2013
The Vengeance spells will now reflect damage more reliably when you are on low health.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Vengeance cannot be cast inside of a player-owned house, and any active Vengeance casts will be removed from the player if they enter one.
