The Vyrewatch are the vampyric vanguard responsible for enforcing the racial policy of Morytania and suppress any resistance to the Drakan overlords. They patrol the skies as both soldiers and lords of Meiyerditch and ask any human, including the player, that catches their attention for a blood tithe. If the player refuses they may distract the vyrewatch to escape the tithe, be forced to give a tithe (dealing about 6 damage), be sent to the mines, or engage in combat.

In addition to the flying variety there is a group of grounded, level 105 Vyrewatch north of the mansion in Slepe. This variant does not tithe the player, but will tell them to be careful of the humans if they are wearing a Vyre Noble Disguise. Be aware that they are naturally aggressive (without your disguise) unlike their flying kin and have a vastly increased attack speed.

Vyrewatch are immune to all weapons except for the Ivandis flail and the Blisterwood flail. This is due to the fact that they can read their enemies' minds in order to evade any form of attack. The aforementioned weapons attack in a chaotic way, making the mind reading ineffective. The Efaritay's aid ring does not affect Vyrewatch.

Success chance[edit | edit source]

The chance of successfully distracting a vyrewatch after being halted for a blood tithe scales with the player's Thieving level.^[1] In addition, a valid game square must be found about four squares away for the player to escape to in order for a vyrewatch to be successfully distracted.

Slayer Task[edit | edit source]

In order to receive a slayer task for Vyres, a player must have at least 38 Slayer.

When killing Vyrewatch for Vampyre slayer tasks players are encouraged to complete the task in Slepe. This is recommended only to players that have completed A Taste of Hope.

Players utilizing a general prayer armour setup can use drakan's medallion to teleport to Ver Sinhaza for banking and run north to Slepe where they can use an Altar of Zamorak to restore prayer points on their way to slaying Vyrewatch immediately north of the Crombwick Manor. An empty inventory with a single combat potion can be used to maximise a player's collection of vampyre dust and runite bars, while praying Protect from Melee at this location.

Players that have done the Sins of the Father quest on the other hand can slay Vyrewatch Sentinels in Darkmeyer, which have a more lucrative drop table and are very close to an Altar.
