Details

Start point	Talk to Rat Burgiss south of Varrock.

Description	A travelling trader has been stranded south of Varrock after his cart was attacked by local outlaws. He needs the help of a hero to recover his lost documents, but that's not all... The Varrock Palace Secret Guard (VPSG) are on the trail of treacherous dealings with the Monks of Zamorak. Will you be able to help the VPSG and uncover what lies below?

Requirements	35 Runecraft Runecraft 42 Mining Mining to use the shortcut to Chaos altar (not required if using the Abyss) (unboostable) Completed the Rune Mysteries quest. Be able to defeat a level 47 enemy.
Items required	A bowl Bronze pickaxe (Bronze metal is specifically required. Obtained during the quest. If you have access to the Abyss, you do not need one) 15 chaos runes A chaos talisman or tiara (if you have access to the Abyss, you do not need one)

Walkthrough

Rat Burgiss's location.

• Talk to Rat Burgiss at the crossing south of Varrock and northeast of Lumbridge chickens. ( 3•1)…

  3	Shall I get them back for you?
  1	Of course! Tell me what you need me to do.

• Kill 5 Outlaws just west of the Grand Exchange (from Grand Exchange, use Tunnel and walk south)
• Fill the folder with 5 papers.
• Return the folder to Rat Burgiss.
• Talk to Surok Magis in the Varrock library (the northern-most room in Varrock Palace). ( 1)…

  1	Go on, then!

• Enter the chaos altar and use the wand on the altar with 15 chaos runes in your inventory.
  • To avoid entering the wilderness, see an alternative entrance in the full guide.
• Return to Surok Magis with the infused wand and an empty bowl. ( 1)…

  1	I have the things you wanted!

• Talk to Rat Burgiss. ( 1)…

  1	Yes! I have a letter for you!

• Talk to Zaff. ( 4)…

  4	Rat Burgiss sent me!

• Talk to Surok Magis. ( 1)…

  1	Bring it on!

• Bring King Roald to 1 hitpoint, then operate the Beacon ring. (Instanced)
  • After this occurs, you will be able to purchase battlestaves from Zaff's Superior Staffs!
  • Take the Dagon'hai history from the north-east bookshelf to bring to Historian Minas for 5 Kudos after the quest.
• Talk to Rat Burgiss.
