Yanillian hops are grown from Yanillian seeds in a hops patch at level 16 Farming, granting 16 experience per hops harvested. Four hops are used to brew wizard's mind bomb at level 34 Cooking. Additionally, 25 hops are required to pay the squirrels on Fossil Island to protect Mahogany trees.

Yanillian seeds may be bought or stolen from Olivia in Draynor, stolen from Master farmers, received as a monster drop, or purchased from other players. The hops themselves can only be acquired through farming or from other players.

Farmers can be paid a basket of tomatoes to watch over the hops patch for the player.

According to the book Gielinor's flora - hops, Yanillian hops are an amalgamation of traditional breeding and the magical experiments of a Wizards' Guild wizard called Soraya.
