Damage done by crewmates does not award the player with ranged xp, instead it only grants sailing xp. This is potentially important for skillers and other restricted accounts.

Recently saw a reddit post saying that every +100 armour gives -1 flat damage. Might need more testing, but this seems to line up with observations for low to mid level mobs that never hit higher tier ships.

I don't know how to edit it, but you should add granite cannonballs to the table. Their damage scales based on the cannon tier. Potted to 112 ranged and fired from an adamant cannon they max 24. Which sits between mith/addy. From rune cannon I've had friends say they it 28s. Didnt see it though and can't test it myself.

Text mentions "Prayers do not have any effect in ship combat." in a weird spot but table only mentions damage not being affected by prayer. If accuracy is unaffected, that should be listed in the table since I spent several minutes trying to find if Rigour would affect accuracy. I cannot confirm myself it doesn't so I didn't make the edit myself

Prayers do not have ANY effect in ship combat. That statement alone makes me think prayers don't work at all whether that be overheads, dmg or accuracy. If it needs rewritten though, you can go ahead as it doesn't affect accuracy at all. it doesnt have ANY effect in ship combat.

Specific math and calculations behind ship boat combat

As Discord isn't the best at logging information/storing information, I am adding a section here about ship combat to log some information

Boat armour I'm not sure I can/should say but for players not using a cannon vs an npc at sea the actual logic is so arcane that I don't think anybody could reasonably figure it out without help. Imo it behooves us to give you this information because it will make the dps calc better and thus our job easier and our playerbase more informed Players attacking Sea npcs on anything other than a cannon roll a 100 sided die: On a 1 they do full damage 2-5 50% damage 6-60 25% damage 61-90 20% damage 90-100 10% damage

The in universe explanation for this is something like the churning seas making it hard to use the weapon properly. We were going to make it miss more but found it just felt way worse.

Crewmates don't deal reduced damage. My crewmate hit a 4 while my max was 1 at level 4 ranged

They do deal reduced damage, but their damage scales to your Sailing level and not your Ranged level. Since your Ranged level is so low, it's likely that your Sailing level is higher to the point they outdamage you. YoshiFan12 (talk) 04:49, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

After crunching some numbers on gearscape in regards to regular weapons against sea creatures with max and all boosts:

Mage: Eye of Ayak=Shadow>Harm Staff>Sang>Swamp Trident>Accursed Sceptre>Kodai

Ranged:

[Twisted bow v krakens]>Blowpipe(dragon)>Bp(amethyst)>bp(rune)=dragon knife>bp(addy)>Bowfa

Does ranged level actually affect accuracy or max hit?

given the info about accuracy, what's the best sort of thing to prioritise? do you want elite void vs dhide? blowpipe/darts vs crossbow vs bows? lightbearer or archers ring? things like that that'd be a good inclusion

should this be renamed boat combat or is ship combat used somewhere by a jmod or ingame also i hope the way i reworked this article and added a section to the combat article about ship combat is ok
