Talk:Zygomite
Zygomite ranged attack more accurate than melee?
editIt has no ranged attack bonuses and max hit is 6(is this ture?).
Melee max hit is 7 and Zygomite has +30 attack stat.
Edit the suggestion to pray Protect from Missiles to Protect from Melee? Hhjuyttg (talk) 14:51, 19 August 2021 (UTC) Hhjuyttg
- Attack bonuses do not influence max hit. The main Strength and Ranged stats do(in addition to strength bonus and ranged strenght bonus), with are both 65. And Monster examine says its "Max standard hit: 7", so the ranged max could be 7 as well, but that requires in-game testing due to it not being included with monster examine. As for the suggestion to changed prayer protections, I think we wait on this update and then adjust because they could be accurate or similar and their average attack style could lean towards more using ranged or melee and then it would be obvious which to use 15:12, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
Dialogue
editI had no idea that these creatures talked! If you run away, they state "I'm coming for you!" --Advokat (talk) 00:43, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hey @Advokat:, that's a very sharp observation! It's a pretty rare line in our crowdsourcing of overhead dialogue, with only about 50 sightings between the two variants. I'd briefly looked into it before, but couldn't really firmly determine the condition that triggers this line: it doesn't seem to happen every time you run away from combat, which is maybe reflected in the lower than expected frequency of the line if that were the trigger. On the Mutated zygomite page on our sister wiki, it says that the line is triggered when the NPC switches target from one player to another; I don't think this is fully accurate either, as I was able to trigger it just now by myself (as did you I expect), but it seems like the condition could nevertheless be related to targeting or re-targeting in some respect. For me, it seemed to trigger when running back into range after first having ran away – was something similar the case for you? Ostentatio (talk) 01:29, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
- Small update – through some more testing I've been able to find at least one repeatable trigger. The line will trigger if you:
- Initiate combat
- Run away far enough to lose aggression
- Before the zygomite turns back into a shroom, run back and attempt to pick another buried zygomite
- The zygomite will re-target onto the player character while uttering the line, and notably, the game message stating will not appear in the chatbox. When attempting to pick another shroom while a zygomite is still actively in combat with you, the opposite is true (i.e. the overhead will not be triggered and the message will display instead). - @Ostentatio: Hi! I think you're on the money there; I believe I triggered it much in the way you described:
Before the zygomite turns back into a shroom, run back and attempt to pick another buried zygomite.
- I was testing if I could trigger multiple to be aggressive; hoping to have them attack me consecutively. I unearthed one, then hid behind another buried zygomite, before digging up that one as well. That follows with the steps you laid out. Sorry for not providing more detail at the time, and thanks so much for the excellent response! --Advokat (talk) 08:23, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hey @Advokat: thank you for confirming – I've updated the transcript page slightly to reflect that we're relatively sure of (at least) this condition. Definitely a fascinating one Ostentatio (talk) 16:08, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

This page and the Zygomite Slayer Task page contradict each other. One page says the range attacks are more accurate and should be prayed against if praying. The other says the melee attacks are more accurate and should be prayed against if praying .
