Dogs in the Park

- Talk about the Christmas event.
- Cecilia: Greetings! If you have come to gaze in rapture at the natural beauty of Falador's parkland, then I have bad news.
- Player: Oh no! What happened?
- Cecilia: We got some impromptu visitors to the park. They came out of nowhere and made an awful mess of the place.
- Cecilia: They trampled the flowers, startled the ducks, dug new holes in the ground...
- Player: That's terrible. Who are these hooligans?
- Cecilia: That's not all! I had plans to decorate the park for Christmas, and they went and chewed some of the decorations.
- Player: How deplorable! Wait, did you say 'chew'? What kind of visitors are you talking about?
- Cecilia: Why, they're dogs of course! I'm quite upset, yet they are so cute that I can't stay mad. We can't leave them here, however.
- Cecilia: I'm going to need some help to find them a place to be, and to clean up afterwards.
- If the player didn't complete the 2024 Halloween event:
- Player: And you're about to ask me.
- Cecilia: Quite right! So... Will you help?
- (Continues below)
- If the player completed the 2024 Halloween event:
- Player: Relocate some intruders and clean up the mess they made? I did something just like that a month or two ago.
- Cecilia: It sounds like you are perfect for the job, then! Will you help?
- (Continues below)
- Start the Christmas event?
- Yes.
- Player: I will!
- Cecilia: Oh, thank you!
- Cecilia: I've reached out to one of my acquaintances, Probita, and she confirmed to me that none of these five adorable little tykes have an owner.
- Cecilia: As cute as they are, they cannot just stay here.
- Player: Maybe I could take them off your hands?
- Cecilia: You can try, but I cannot promise that they wouldn't attempt to ransack all of your belongings. You saw what happened to the park.
- Player: Good point. I do prefer when my belongings stay in one piece.
- Cecilia: I wonder if they caused so much havoc because they came in as a group.
- If the player is a group ironman:
- Player: In fairness, it can be fun being in a group. I can see where they're coming from.
- (Continues below)
- Cecilia: We should be able to manage this by getting each of them a different loving owner and some proper training.
- Cecilia: I've already got a few ideas for potential adopters. Hmm... What if we set up a rehoming event? An adoption drive!
- Player: That could work!
- Cecilia: We could have balloons and decorations, and maybe even nibbles.
- Player: Wouldn't the dogs eat the nibbles and chew the decorations?
- Cecilia: You're right, of course. Then... What if we dressed up the dogs to make them extra cute. Would that distract them enough?
- Player: I don't know. It might distract them from the decorations, but I don't think anything could distract them from the nibbles.
- Cecilia: Yes, that is true. Let us not have the nibbles. Besides, the first step is to secure some costumes and a venue.
- Cecilia: While I try and figure out where the best place to host the event is, could you please check with Party Pete if he would have costumes to lend us? I will also start writing and decorating the invitations in the meantime.
- Player: On it!
- (End of dialogue)
- No.
- Player: I'd love to help, but I'm somewhat busy right now.
- Cecilia: Then I will have to wrangle those dogs myself. We can't leave the park in that state!
- (End of dialogue)
- (Non-event dialogue) Talk about something else.

Talking to Party Pete

- Talk about the Christmas event.
- Party Pete: Hi! I'm Party Pete. Welcome to the Party Room!
- Player: Thank you! I'm here on behalf of Cecilia. Some dogs have recently moved into Falador park and we'd like to run a rehoming event to help them find a better home.
- Player: I was wondering if you'd have any costumes we could borrow to dress up the dogs and increase their chances of adoption?
- Party Pete: A rehoming event? That sounds like a party to me, and I absolutely love a party! Let's make this happen for you. Where were you thinking of hosting your event?
- Player: I don't think we have a venue yet. Cecilia said she would be looking into that.
- Party Pete: Why not host it here, then, in the Party room! We have excellent facilities and we can take the stress away from organising your event.
- Party Pete: We've also just redecorated the place for the holidays.
- Player: It looks terrific! That all sounds great, but I'd have to check with Cecilia first.
- Party Pete: That's fair, my friend. However I'm so convinced she'll love it that I'll book you in already. You can come and let me know if she decides she doesn't want to host it there.
- Player: I guess that'd be ok. Now, about those costumes. Is it something you'd be able to help with?
- Party Pete: Ab-so-lu-tely. We've got a few tops and accessories in the storage which were used for a children's play. I think they could be adapted pretty easily, and I know a guy.
- Player: That is amazing. Thank you so much, Pete. I'll go and report to Cecilia!
- Party Pete: I'll be off too.
- Player: Oh? Where to?
- Party Pete: I... need to see a man about a dog. Party on, my friend!

- Cecilia: How did you get on with talking to Party Pete?
- Player: He has some costumes that were designed for children but might be able to fit dogs with a bit of adjusting... And he knows a guy.
- Player: He also said that the rehoming event sounded like a party and that we should hold it in the Party room. He already reserved it for us!
- Cecilia: Oh, that's perfect! Let me write the place and time on those invitations, then. After that I'll need to head to the Party room to get it ready.
- Player: That's the best thing: the Party room is already all decorated! I think the hardest bit will be to convince the dogs to wear the costumes!
- Cecilia: I might want to give them a wash first, while I'm at it. While I do that, if you could deliver these to their recipients, that would be fabulous.
- Player: Sure thing, who do I need to deliver them to?
- Cecilia: It'll be written on the invitation. Let me give them to you.

- Hairdresser: Hello, Cecilia! We got your invitations!
- Gertrude: Yes, and I don't care if you meant it as a joke, I'm taking a dog home and that's final!
- Cecilia: Gertrude, you know I didn't mean-
- Sir Amik Varse: Ah, this party looks wonderful! Would there be some nibbles available?
- Player: Well, if there were, the dogs would have gotten to them already.
- Sir Amik Varse: Ah, darn. Party Pete's deviled eggs are rather delicious, I was hoping he would have made a batch.
- Cecilia: Hold on... have any of you seen Charlie?

- The guests walk towards the centre stage.
- Gertrude: Wow, they're all so cute! I can't decide which one to take!
- Sir Amik Varse: No, I can't either!
- Cecilia: Hm... this might be a problem. [player name], would you mind helping pair these people to their new friends for life?
- Player: That's a big ask when you put it like that.
- Cecilia: Then it's important we get it right! Don't worry, just talk to them, I'm sure they can give you information that will help you decide.

Talking to Sir Amik Varze
[edit | edit source]- Player: So, Sir Amik, which of these dogs take your fancy?
- Sir Amik Varze: Hmm I can't decide, they're all such fine choices. You are going to have to choose for me my friend! Just pick something that typically says 'royalty'. What sort of dog would a lord or even a monarch have?
- Which dog do you recommend?
- The Corgi in the Christmas tree costume.
- Sir Amik Varze: Such a regal little dog. Perfection!
- If this was the last person the player needs to speak to:

Talking to the hairdresser
[edit | edit source]- Player: I heard you needed help making a choice? What kind of dog are you interested in?
- Hairdresser: Well I don't have a lot of space, so something small preferably. Though it needs to have lots of hair for me to practice new hairstyles on!

- Gertrude: See Cecilia, I told you I could be adventurous!! Now which one would the cats prefer, hmm... Oh heavens I didn't think this through. Oh what about that lovely small one with the present box on its head! I don't know why
- Gertrude: but something about it just speaks to my heart. I can't believe I'm doing it! I'm finally getting a dog!

- Stray dog:
- The camera switches to the exit, with the guests all leaving the Party Room. The camera then pans back to the centre stage.
- Cecilia: Well, it looks like we still have one left.
- Player: What are we going to do with him?
- Cecilia: Honestly, I have no idea. I'd love to be able to take him in myself but I don't have the time or space to look after a dog these days.
- Player: Maybe Party Pete could take him in?
- Party Pete: I can't keep dogs here, they'd be an allergy concern for the party room.
- Player: Darn...
- Cecilia: It's a shame Charlie couldn't make it, I'm sure he would have...
- Charlie the Tramp: Who said I couldn't make it?
- Charlie arrives, walking towards the centre stage.
- Player: Charlie! You made it!
- Charlie the Tramp: Sorry for the hold up, I had a small adventure on the way here!
- Cecilia: Adventure?
- Charlie the Tramp: Well, after I got the invite to this party, I thought for a bit, and I realised that I would like a dog, but if I was going to get a dog, I needed to make sure I could take care of it.
- Charlie the Tramp: So I went to Cook, the cook at the Blue Moon Inn, to see if I could talk him into giving some leftovers to a potential dog...
- Charlie the Tramp: Then it turns out it was the King's birthday, and Cook wanted to bake him a cake but ran out of ingredients, so he agreed to help me if I went and got them for him...
- Charlie the Tramp: So I did that, then I realised I was about to go to a party without any nibbles!
- Cecilia: Yes, we were going to get some nibbles, but the dogs would have eaten them...
- Charlie the Tramp: Isn't that the point of nibbles? Snacks for the dogs?
- Cecilia: Oh, I thought you meant...
- Charlie the Tramp: Here, boy! Want a snack?
- Stray dog: *sniff sniff* Bark, bark! *pant*
- Charlie pets the dog.
- Charlie the Tramp: Hah, you're a bundle of fun, aren't ya?
- Charlie the Tramp: But yeah, I actually got Cook to teach me how to make deviled eggs. Then someone behind the bar pointed out that they aren't safe for dogs to eat.
- Charlie the Tramp: But it turns out, apple slices are a real treat for good boys like this one! So I got a bunch of those instead.
- Charlie the Tramp: What do you think, boy?
- Charlie gives the dog treats.
- Stray dog: *munch* Awoooooooo. *munch*
- Charlie the Tramp: Hm, now I think about it, I'm fairly sure I've seen you around before.
- Charlie the Tramp: Well, either way, you seem perfect for me! I can't offer much, but I can promise we're gonna have the best adventures together!
- Charlie pets the dog.
- Stray dog: Bark, bark bark!
- The cutscene ends.
- Cecilia: Well, that was certainly more dramatic than I had hoped for.
- Player: But we did manage to find homes for all the dogs!
- Cecilia: Yes, that's true. Thanks for your help, [player name]! Now all those dogs have a home for the holidays, and I can finally clean up the park!
- Player: Ah, I forgot that's why we started doing this in the first place.
- Cecilia: Yes, well... I'd like to do that, but first I think I should probably give Party Pete a hand cleaning up here.
- Cecilia helps clear up the Party Room...
- Cecilia: Well, that wasn't too bad! And as a bonus, I think I have something for your help!
- Cecilia: There's a lot of spare decorations and costumes that Party Pete can't make use of, and he thought you might like them.
- Player: Oh, I love weird outfits, thank you so much!
- If the player doesn't have enough inventory spaces:
- You need [number] free inventory slots to receive your Christmas event rewards.
- Cecilia: Oh, you don't appear to have the space to take them. Make some room in your inventory and talk to me again.

- Party Pete: I hope so too. I've got a particularly good recipe for deviled eggs which always go down great at parties.
- Player: I have actually heard about them, so the word gets around! It will have to be for another occasion, however.
- Party Pete: For a birthday, maybe? After all, we're never short of events to celebrate!

- Talk about the Christmas event.
- Cecilia: Ah, hello again [player name]!
- Player: Hello Cecilia! How's the cleanup work going?
- Cecilia: Very well, thank you! It's a lot easier to get things done when you don't have a pack of dogs trying to dig up the soil under your feet.
- Cecilia: Though, I do find myself missing them now. Maybe I should get a dog of my own?
- Player: That sounds like an adventure for the future.
