[edit | edit source]- Duke Horacio: Greetings. Welcome to my castle.
- (If the player does not have an anti-dragon shield:) I seek a shield that will protect me from dragonbreath.
- Player: I seek a shield that will protect me from dragonbreath.
- Duke Horacio: A knight going on a dragon quest, hmm? What dragon do you intend to slay?
- Select an Option
- (During Dragon Slayer I:) Elvarg, the dragon of Crandor island!
- Player: Elvarg, the dragon of Crandor island!
- Duke Horacio: Elvarg? Are you sure?
- Well, are you sure?
- Yes.
- Player: Yes.
- Duke Horacio: Well, you're a braver [man/woman] than I!
- Player: Why is everyone so scared of this dragon?
- Duke Horacio: Back in my father's day, Crandor was an important city-state. Politically it was as important as Falador and Varrock and its ships traded with every port.
- Duke Horacio: But, one day, when I was little, all contact was lost. The trading ships and the diplomatic envoys just stopped coming.
- Duke Horacio: I remember my father being very scared. He posted lookouts on the roof to warn if the dragon was approaching. All the city rulers worried that Elvarg would devastate the whole continent.
- I'd better leave that dragon alone.
- Player: I'd better leave that dragon alone.
- Duke Horacio: That's a relief. I would hate to see such a promising adventurer cut down in [his/her] prime.
- (End of dialogue)
- So, are you going to give me the shield or not?
- Player: So, are you going to give me the shield or not?
- Duke Horacio: If you really think you're up to it then perhaps you are the one who can kill this dragon.
- The Duke hands you a heavy orange shield.
- (Player receives Anti-dragon shield.)
- Duke Horacio: Take care out there. If you kill it...
- Duke Horacio: If you kill it, for Saradomin's sake make sure it's really dead!
- (End of dialogue)
- No.
- Duke Horacio: Very wise. There are some monsters that are best left alone.
- (End of dialogue)
- Oh, no dragon in particular
- Player: Oh, no dragon in particular. I just feel like killing a dragon.
- If the player has not finished Dragon Slayer I:
- Duke Horacio: I don't have an infinite supply of these shields, you know. I'll only give one for a truly worthy cause.
- (End of dialogue)
- If the player has finished Dragon Slayer I:
- Player: Oh, no dragon in particular. I just feel like killing a dragon.
- Duke Horacio: Of course. Now you've slain Elvarg, you've earned the right to call the shield your own!
- The Duke hands you the shield.
- (Player receives Anti-dragon shield.)
- (End of dialogue)
- Have you any quests for me?
- Player: Have you any quests for me?
- Before starting the Rune Mysteries quest.
- Duke Horacio: Well, it's not really a quest but I recently discovered this strange talisman.
- Duke Horacio: It seems to be mystical and I have never seen anything like it before. Would you take it to the head wizard at
- Duke Horacio: the Wizards' Tower for me? It's just south-west of here and should not take you very long at all. I would be awfully grateful.
- Yes.
- Player: Sure, no problem.
- Duke Horacio: Thank you very much, stranger. I am sure the head wizard will reward you for such an interesting find.
- (Player receives air talisman.)
- (End of dialogue)
- No.
- Player: Not right now.
- Duke Horacio: As you wish, stranger, although I have this strange feeling that it is important. Unfortunately, I cannot leave my castle unattended.
- (End of dialogue)
- After starting the Rune Mysteries quest and still having the talisman.
- Duke Horacio: The only task remotely approaching a quest is the delivery of that talisman I gave you to the head wizard of the Wizards' Tower,
- Duke Horacio: south-west of here. I suggest you deliver it to him as soon as possible. I have the oddest feeling that it is important...
- (End of dialogue)
- After starting the Rune Mysteries quest and having lost the talisman.
- Duke Horacio: Did you speak to the head wizard for me yet, adventurer?
- Player: No, I lost that air talisman that you gave me.
- Duke Horacio: Ah, that would explain it. One of my servants found this outside, and it seemed too much of a coincidence that more than one strange
- Duke Horacio: object would appear on my land in such a short period of time. Please take this to the head wizard at the Wizards' Tower, south-west of here, and don't lose it this time.
- (Player receives air talisman.)
- (End of dialogue)
- After giving the talisman to Sedridor.
- After starting the Rune Mysteries quest and having the Research package.
- Duke Horacio: The only job I had was the delivery of that talisman, so I'm afraid not.
- (End of dialogue)
- Duke Horacio: No, all is well for me.
- (End of dialogue)
- Where can I find money?
- Player: Where can I find money?
- Duke Horacio: I've heard that the blacksmiths are prosperous amongst the peasantry. Maybe you could try your hand at that?
- (End of dialogue)
