RuenScape vs. RuneScape 3

Hey, I don't want to keep going back and forth about this in edit summaries, so I wanted to talk about it here. Ultimately, there is no consensus on the wiki to use "RuneScape" instead of "RuneScape 3". Both are used on the wiki, and from conversations I've had with other editors, "RuneScape 3" is very often preferred for clarity. And while it's true that the official legal name of the game is just "RuneScape", it is sometimes referred to as RuneScape 3 in official communications (for example in this recent blogpost where Mod North calls it RuneScape 3/RS3).

At any rate, the wiki is not an official Jagex product and we have no obligation to use specific terms that Jagex uses--we're a resource for players, made by players. I think that circumlocutions like "the alternative game" or "the main game" are honestly really confusing to people who only play Old School and only see RS3 referred to as "RuneScape 3"/"RS3".

Uncertain if you saw--I pinged you in the wiki Discord and there was a little discussion from other editors there. Please feel free to reply or ping me there to continue the conversation. This is the sort of thing that should not be decided by two people as it affects the wiki as a whole, so it's important that other people are able to participate in the discussion. If you do not want to discuss it there, then please make a proposal/thread at Forum:Redwood Grove so we can discuss it with other editors; there is no current consensus on the wiki to use RuneScape instead of RuneScape 3 so if you're proposing the wiki do this going forward, it needs to be agreed upon by other people too.
