Wallpapers (also known as backgrounds) were found on the "Downloads" section of the RuneScape website between approximately 2004 and 2013, alongside the official client and the world map. They were made from official artwork, and could be downloaded at several resolutions. They would sometimes first appear in Postbag from the Hedge before or alongside being released as wallpapers.

Wallpapers based on Old School RuneScape are currently released on the official Flickr account.
