Scenery
Scenery refers to the various decorative and natural objects found around the game world such as trees, rocks and plants. Most types of scenery can be examined, and even interacted with in some cases. For example, trees can be cut, ranges and fires can be used to cook raw food, and storage units can be searched.
Some larger scenery will block a player's path (for example, trees and bushes), while others have no colliders and can be walked over (for example, ferns). The scenery you can walk over will prevent you from lighting a tinderbox. Some types of scenery will block the path, but will allow for attacks with projectiles. Many enemies can be 'tricked' by exploiting their pathing and these types of scenery, this is also referred to as safespotting.
Trivia
[edit | edit source]- Scenery objects are referred to as locs (short for locations, but pronounced like locks) by Jagex internally in the game code.
