  • Builder 2: Aye, mate, but wouldn't it be just as rude for us to interrupt?
  • Builder 1: A good point well made, mate. Who are we to decide that the dig is more impor'ant than a personal disagreement between two people?
  • Builder 2: You're not wrong, mate. We often place matters of industry above those of people, and it's chippin' away at our ability to relate to each other on a human level.

Talking to Zuma or Attala

  • Zuma: It is my right and duty as a follower of Ranul to document that which has been found beneath your city.
  • Attala: Your beliefs do not grant you a right to anything in Cam Torum, not to document things, and especially not to get yourself killed.
  • Attala: I don't want to give Fortis any excuses to come knocking on our door to investigate your untimely and idiotic demise.
  • Zuma: I won't take no for an answer. I am bound by my divine oath.
  • Attala: Oh yes? And will your divine oath feed you in there? Light your way? Keep you safe from cave-ins and monsters?
  • Player: I don't know about cave-ins, but I can handle monsters.
  • If the player does not meet the quest requirements:
    • Attala: Sorry, but I'm busy with a different arrogant human. You'll have to wait in line.
    • You do not meet all of the requirements to start the Perilous Moons quest.

    • Attala: No! We've more than enough humans in Cam Torum with this blasted Fortis mandated dig! I don't care how many deals it secured, it's not worth all this trouble!

    • Guard: Apologies, but I was sent to tell you that one of the creatures from the ruins managed to bypass our defenses.
    • Guard: It escaped through the mountain's outflow spring, to the north east.
    • Attala: The one that leads to the aqueduct?! We'll have Fortis guards barging into the city if they catch wind...
    • Player: It sounds like you need help.
    • Attala: Cam Torum does not need help, much less that of any humans!
    • Attala: Wake the off-duty guards and put them to work. I'll ensure they're paid handsomely.
    • Guard: I'm afraid we already have.
    • Attala: Argh! Get back to your post!
    • Attala: Alright, fine! Human, you look like you've seen a fight or two. Deal with the escaped creature by the mountain outflow spring.
    • Player: Hang on, what's in it for me?
    • Attala: What do you want?!

  • Player: Working on it.
  • Attala: It's up by the mountain outflow spring, north east of here. Get to it before it makes its way to the aqueduct!

Killing the Sulphur Nagua

  • If the player is the primary person to kill the Nagua:
    • Player: I should head back to Attala and let her know that the aqueduct is secure.

  • If the player deals significant damage to the Nagua, which also receives damage from another player:
    • Player: Good work team! Let's let Attala know we all killed it, together!

  • If the player deals a small amount of damage to the Nagua, which is killed by another player:
    • Player: Technically I helped kill it... Without me, the others might have been overwhelmed... Yes... I should let Attala know the aqueduct is secure.

Returning to Attala

  • Player: I've taken care of the... What was that thing anyway?
  • Attala: A spirit of sorts. Something far older than anything your people have bothered to remember. In any case, a deal is a deal. You may enter the city of Cam Torum.
  • Zuma: What about me?
  • Attala: Are you still here?!
  • Zuma: Yes, and I'm not going anywhere!
  • Attala: Fine! If it'll make you stop pestering me, you can join...
  • Player: [player name].
  • Attala: You can join [player name].
  • Attala: [player name], he's your responsibility now. If either of you cause any trouble, you're both out!

  • Zuma: Thank you, [player name]. I'm Zuma, by the way. I'll meet you inside.
  • The screen briefly fades to black, and Zuma disappears into the city.
  • Builder 1: Thanks for that, mate. You should speak to Jess inside. She'll be in the north of the city. She could use a problem solver like yourself.
  • Player: Who's Jess?
  • Builder 2: She's the archaeologist in charge of the dig into these ruins they've found. Discovering the mysteries of the past and that.

  • Attala: Hello again.
  • Player: What are you doing here?
  • Attala: Well with the suitation outside dealt with, I now need to keep an eye on this expedition. Any mistakes made in these ruins could bring the ground out from beneath our city!
  • Player: Is it really that dangerous in there?
  • Attala: It might be if you don't know what you're dealing with. Your people often assume they do, which generally makes things worse.

  • The rest of your people don't seem very happy I'm here.

    • Attala: The rest?! I'm not happy you're here either.
    • Player: I helped you with the aqueduct. You could afford to show a little bit of gratitude.

    • Attala: As I say, the situation has been dealt with for now. Besides, the only reason that situation existed in the first place is because of these ruins.
    • Attala: At this point a smart person would call off this dig entirely, but as that doesn't seem set to happen, I'd say it's in our best interests we keep an eye on things.

    • Player: I take it you don't get on well with the humans?
    • Attala: It's not exactly that. You have your virtues, but you have short sight and even shorter memories, which can be very dangerous.
    • Player: Why not share what you know with us then?
    • Attala: I suspect some of your people wouldn't be too pleased if we did. The truth isn't something that everyone desires.
    • Player: Well I'm always open to a bit of truth myself.
    • Attala: Hmph! I doubt that.

  • Zuma: Thank you for your help back there, [player name]. Dwarves can be very stubborn.
  • Player: So can you, apparently.
  • Zuma: It is not stubbornness on my part. It is duty that drives me.

  • Zuma: I am a nelta of Ranul and I am bound by his tenets. One of them is to ensure that knowledge is protected and respected. These ruins they've found could contain all manner of things! I must find out!

  • Jessamine: Nilsal! The name's Jessamine, though most people call me Jess. You must be [player name]. I hear you sorted out the situation holding back the arrivial[sic] of our supplies. Thanks for that.
  • Player: Don't mention it. So you're here for these ruins beneath the city?
  • Jessamine: Yes, a cave-in revealed them! I'm here to lead the dig and see what we can discover.
  • Player: There seems to be a lot of ancient ruins popping up lately.
  • Jessamine: Gielinor has been around for a long time. We're really only just starting to scratch its surface!

    • Jessamine: Well it seems our expedition has already gained a couple of new recruits somehow, but what I really need is someone more proactive who can fend for themselves. You seem perfect for the job!
    • Jessamine: Meet me inside the ruins. We need help setting up some base camps for further exploration.

    • Player: How come the dwarves let you in?
    • Jessamine: I work at the museum in Fortis. The dwarves have a begrudging alliance with the capital, and so they begrudgingly let me in.
    • Jessamine: They demanded agreement to some absurdly expensive export deals in exchange, and even exclusive rights to some imports from the mainland.
    • Jessamine: It took weeks of negotiation, and they still don't seem entirely satisfied.
    • Player: I take it you don't get on too well?
    • Jessamine: No. It's a shame. They would be a great source of historical knowledge, if they were just more willing to share it.

  • Player: What have you found?
  • Zuma: This is sacred ground. This is most obviously a shrine built by emissaries of Ranul.
  • Attala: You see a picture of a creature eating the sun and instead of a warning, you see evidence of your god? You really are beyond saving.
  • Zuma: Enough! This mural may depict a scene straight from our holy scriptures! Show some respect!
  • Player: Alright, calm down, both of you. Let's go see what the actual archaeologist has to say.
  • Attala and Zuma walk over to Jessamine

  • Jessamine: Strange...
  • Player: What have you found?
  • Jessamine: This mural has an inscription beneath it, written in the language of the Old Ones. I think I'm getting there, but I'm going to need more time to decipher it.
  • Attala: We don't need to be deciphering inscriptions to know that we shouldn't be here. I mean look at that... whatever that floating thing is. This place is dangerous!
  • Jessamine: All the more reason to find out more about it then.
  • If the player has not completed The Garden of Death:
    • Player: Do you need me to do anything in the meantime?

    • Player: Could I help with the translations? I actually have a bit of experience with this language.

  • Jessamine: The surrounding caverns are quite large. If you could take some building supplies and set up some camps in each of them, it would make further exploration a lot easier.

  • Jessamine: Let me know when you have. In the meantime, I've got to keep working on this inscription, whilst also making sure these two don't kill each other...
  • Player: They're... er... Very passionate.
  • Player: Speaking of which, what about you? Why a life of archaeology?
  • Jessamine: I've always loved it. When I was a child, I had a friend in Fortis who I'd collect old trinkets with.
  • Zuma: It's right here! It clearly says...
  • Player: I see. I guess it was a natural next step then?
  • Attala: I don't care what your book says! Your book won't keep us safe from...
  • Jessamine: Indeed. The employees at the museum already knew me well by the time I applied. I've spent a lot of my life browsing it.
  • Attala: The last time you humans did something like this...
  • Player: You should visit the museum in Varrock some time. There's a lot to see!
  • Zuma: Always 'you humans'. You do realise I am not my great-grandfather...
  • Jessamine: I've been meaning to! Thing is, I couldn't turn down this opportunity when it came up.

  • Zuma: The secrets of this dungeon belong to the Varlamorian people! You can't...

  • Builder 2: Thanks for taking care of those base camps, mate.
  • Player: No problem. I hope there's no hard feelings over Jessamine asking me to do a part of your jobs.
  • Builder 1: That's no worries, mate, I've no issue admitting you're better cut out for building camps in dangerous dungeons than I am.
  • Builder 2: We may not be mul'i-disciplined adventurers like you, but we don't need to be. The world needs more than just heroes, don't it?
  • Builder 1: Aye, mate, I'm content and proud to just be a hard working, decent builder.
  • Builder 2: Besides, without us, building supplies wouldn't be there in the first place. Life's all about working together.

  • Player: I've finished setting up the camps.
  • Jessamine: Thanks. I'm all done deciphering the inscription. Some of it has worn away, so we're missing bits, but between it, the murals and the big floating monolith, we've already found some pretty exciting stuff!

    • Attala: First they built the place, now they're sealed in it. These leaping assumptions are going to get us all killed!
    • Player: Well I've only ever had good experiences opening ancient vaults.
    • Jessamine: Attala is right to be cautious. These murals don't look all too friendly...
    • Zuma: But these emissaries may have ancient knowledge lost to the ages! We must investigate further.
    • Jessamine: These ruins are directly beneath the Teomat... I suppose it's possible there may be some links to Ralos and Ranul.
    • Attala: I will not allow you to put Cam Torum in danger just because you're curious!
    • Player: I'm not sure if these disagreements are really getting us anywhere...
    • Attala: You make a good point.

      • Jessamine: I think it would be unwise to go and start freeing emissaries that we know nothing about.
      • Attala: Agreed!
      • Jessamine: But we should still try and learn more about them. They may pose a risk to Cam Torum.

      • Jessamine: We know they were sealed by the power of earth and streams. This magic presumably originates from somewhere within these ruins. I also wonder if these talismans I found might be connected...
      • Jessamine shows you an earth and a water talisman.
      • Player: Interesting...
      • Attala: Hmm... Nahta will know what to do with these. [player name], take them to him in Cam Torum's magic shop. Tell him I sent you.

    • Attala: It's raining blood! It is clearly a depiction of death!
    • Jessamine: It's not clear from the mural whether the creature depicted is calling the rain or lamenting its arrival.
    • Zuma: It's an emissary of the blood moon! A bringer of rain and bountiful harvests!
    • Jessamine: Blood moons don't usually bring good harvests, and I don't see any thriving crops depicted in the mural.
    • Player: So what do you make of it?
    • Zuma: You cannot deny us the Blood Moon's bounty!
    • Jessamine: The blood moon is nothing more than a cosmic occurrence. We need more context to come to any conclusions.
    • Attala: Cam Torum has no interest in bathing in blood!

    • Jessamine: Blue moons are exceedinly rare... They're only seen occasionally during volcanic eruptions. It's possible that this cracking mountain signals the appearance of a volcano.

  • Eyatlalli: It is key to the magics that keep the Moons of Peril contained. It reshapes and reweaves the magical seals as the Moons attempt to break them.

  • Eyatlalli: For it to have moved means that the seals must have needed reshaping. That has not happened for decades.

  • Eyatlalli: For centuries, the magic used to seal the Moons has been woven into Neypotzli and the creatures that inhabit it.

    • Attala: Doubtful. My people are all too familiar with that sort of thing. The Lovakengj dwarves have mostly forgotten their history, but we Dwarves of Cam Torum remember it all too well.

    • Attala: Before Lovakengj, there was Imcandoria. Our ancestors there were forced to abandon their home, just as we were forced to leave Kourend.
    • Attala: If you humans had had your way, we might have had to abandon Cam Torum by now as well.
    • Player: You don't know that.
    • Attala: But I do know that. As I said, we remember our history, and we know that those who don't are doomed to repeat it.
    • Attala: The Varlamorians nearly destroyed themselves in their War of Betrayal, but it was not them who were betrayed, it was us.
    • Attala: I was a young dwarf when their war risked destroying our home. I saw the results of their pride. Meanwhile, they've all but forgotten it.
