Digweed can be harvested from digweed plants within the Mastering Mixology minigame. Using digweed with any potion in the minigame will double the amount of resin and Herblore experience gained when placing it on the conveyor belt.

Digweed can be obtained by picking the herb once it has matured, which happens periodically after depositing finished potions on the conveyor belt. The player will receive a notification in game chat indicating which corner of the lab has the matured plant. If not picked within 33 ticks (19.8 seconds), a mature digweed will die.

A potion can only be improved with digweed once; attempting to use multiple digweeds on the same potion returns the message This potion has already been improved with digweed.

Having any digweed in the inventory will prevent another digweed from spawning until used or destroyed, though using the drop trick, or mixing the digweed into an unfinished potion, allows the player to gather multiple digweeds.

Note: Leaving the lab will cause any digweed in the player's inventory to wither away, meaning they cannot be banked or stockpiled. When this happens, a game message appears stating Your digweed withers away as you leave the lab. However dropping the digweed while inside the minigame, leaving via teleport, and then telegrabbing it will allow you leave with the digweed.

Digweed cannot be banked; attempting to do so gives you this message A magical force prevents you from banking this item!. However, potions that have been improved with digweed can be banked.

Using a potion with a digweed (instead of a digweed with a potion) comes up with a chat message stating that you mixed the potion into the potion to improve its quality. (e.g You mix the mammoth-might mix into the Mammoth-might mix, drastically improving its quality!)
