Merfolk

Mermaids, also known as Merfolk, are an aquatic humanoid race that frequent the oceans of Gielinor. They have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a fish. A group of mermaids can be found living in the underwater area off the coast of Fossil Island. A merfolk skeleton can be assembled from fossils discovered across Fossil Island, suggesting that merfolk have lived in the area for long enough that their remains have been able to fossilize. Other mermaids can also be found all across the oceans, helping people research the depths of the ocean in exchange for answering their questions about the surface.

Merfolk are elusive beings and little is known about them. They shed pearls, known as Mermaid tears, when they cry,[1] and their hair is strong enough to make fishing nets.[2] Whether or not they are connected to Sirens, who mainly inhabit the Wushanko Isles, is unknown.
