Salvaging hook

A salvaging hook is a type of facility that can be installed on player-owned boats. They can be used to salvage shipwrecks, providing Sailing experience and salvage that can be placed in the ship's cargo hold. In general, increasing the tier of hook increases the chance of success when salvaging, but higher tiers require higher Sailing and Construction levels to build and higher deckhandiness requirements for crewmates to use the hooks.

Crewmates with the appropriate Deckhandiness level can be assigned to operate the salvaging hook, as long as the player has the required Sailing level. As such, players who used temporary boosts to build it must maintain the Sailing boost when a crewmate or themselves are using it.
