The current duck is a friendly floaty duck who helps the player with charting currents at sea. The ability to chart currents is unlocked upon completion of Current Affairs, which requires a Sailing level of 22.

The current duck follows currents until reaching a predetermined end point indicated with message Your current duck comes to a stop.. It will despawn two minutes after it comes to a stop. The current duck will reappear in the tools compartment of the cargo hold on a player's boat once it is placed in the water, however it will not be retrievable from there until the current one despawns or is picked up. The current duck cannot be placed in a menagerie.

Telekinetic grab does not work on the current duck.

  • The current duck is a reference to the Friendly Floatees spill where a variety of plastic bath toys, including ducks, washed into the Pacific Ocean and were used to study ocean current.
