Mopping Up is a grandmaster combat achievement which requires clearing eight or more acid blood with one earthen shield during the fight against the Doom of Mokhaiotl.

The achievement is completed as soon as the earthen shield clears any eight tiles with acid blood in them, rather than being completed upon defeating the Doom once the criteria is satisfied.

Strategy

Acid blood begins to appear after delve level 3. However, it is only possible to get the achievement starting from delve 4.

Whenever Doom takes damage from any attack, it will splatter two or three tiles with its blood in one random cardinal direction for that delve level. To cause a lot of splatter, players can opt to use weak or multihit weapons and thralls to increase the amount of blood that Doom will splatter. Doom will not move at delve 3 and 4, so it is more common to attempt the achievement at delve 5, where Doom can be repositioned during the burrow phase. This additionally depends on the direction that blood was splattered during the previous two delves; if they were splattered across from each other (north/south or west/east), the achievement becomes a lot easier to obtain as players simply need to ensure that Doom is placed accordingly after the burrow phase ends.

After finishing the burrow phase, Doom will immediately prepare for the shockwave attack, spawning volatile earth around it. It is best to keep Doom towards the centre of the arena as best as possible so the earth is more likely to spawn in a desirable spot. Select two earth to destroy, making sure that the centre tile of earthen shield will overlap with the acid blood, as it will only clear acid from that tile. Doom will perform 3 slams at delve 5, so it is important to set the shield off early so it clears enough blood in time. Each shockwave will deal around ~35 or so damage if not protected.

Players who do very deep delves do not need to be as concerned for the achievement, as they will get it passively while creating safe tiles for subsequent delves.
