Infernal nuggets are used to create infernal plates, which can then be turned into oathplate armour. They are created with level 83 Smithing by combining 28 crushed infernal shale with 5 oathplate shards using the furnace located in the mining area on the lower level of the Chasm of Fire. 10 infernal nuggets are required per infernal plate.

In total, 2520 crushed infernal shale must be combined with 450 oathplate shards to make 9 infernal plates in order to smith any individual piece of oathplate armour.

Using the furnace with the materials will create an infernal blend.

To cool it, click on the pool of ichor near the furnace. The blend will be taken out of the inventory and placed in the pool, and a blue bar above the pool will begin to fill rapidly. Once the the bar is filled, it will then start to drop, at this point the pool can be clicked on to take the now ready Infernal nugget out.

If you take the nugget too early (before the bar is full) you will receive a malformed infernal blend, simply place it in the furnace again to heat it back to bright red.

If you do not take the blend out when the bar drops back to zero, and your character is next to the pool, they will automatically take it out at the last moment, giving the finished infernal nugget.

However, if you are not next to the pool, and the bar drains, a malformed infernal blend will be dropped from the pool, which requires re-heating, similar to taking the nugget out of the pool too early.

It is not possible to lose the nugget or the materials by messing up the cooling process - the nugget can only be lost if manually destroyed, or if left behind on the ground after the cooling pool spews it out when the bar is drained.
