Hagus is a member of the Zamorak Magical Institute who can be found within the Scar essence mine. Having spent many years in the Scar, Hagus has learned how to use the Ventriculus, the abyssal extractor, within the mine. He will offer to help players withdraw runic extracts from the Ventriculus' extract orifice, provided that they have deposited enough coins in his coffer.

If players ask him to tell them more about himself, he will tell them that he is in search of a certain rune, but will not tell the player which one, as they are not a member of the ZMI. When inspecting the extract orifice, this is hinted to be the wrath rune, and is confirmed upon using one on him.

Players can use wrath runes on Hagus, and can either accept or reject his request to have it. If players choose to give him wrath runes, he will give a different response after giving him 1, 10, 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1,000 wrath runes. If players attempt to use a wrath rune on him after giving him 1,000 of them, he will tell the player that he can't hold any more.

• Hagus's name may be derived from haggis, a Scottish dish using a sheep's stomach as a casing, which matches the fleshy interior of the Scar.
  • It may also be derived from the vagus nerve, a nerve in the human body responsible for connecting the brain to various other organs.
