Tainted essence chunks are an item that is obtained from mining amalgamations in the Scar essence mine. These are deposited into Ventriculus openings, with each chunk providing five tainted essence, which can then be processed in two ways: the first is to clean it via the essence orifice, converting two tainted essence into one noted pure essence. The second way - acquiring runic extracts from the extract orifice - requires having deposited a certain amount of coins into Hagus' coffer, depending on the type of extract they wish to acquire:
