A barricade is an item used in the Castle Wars minigame as portable obstacles to restrict enemy movement. On the recommended Castle Wars Worlds, players need at least 500 skill total to set up barricades. Players without that requirement can use the barricades on other worlds.

The barricades have a set-up option that places the item on the ground below you, as an attackable object with 50 Hitpoints. On dedicated Castle Wars worlds, each team can have a maximum of 10 barricades set up inside their base and 7 barricades set up outside their base. If the limit is reached, players on that team cannot set up more barricades unless some of the previously set up barricades are destroyed.

Players cannot walk through barricades placed in that manner, and must destroy it by attacking, lighting it with a tinderbox, or using an explosive potion with it. Players gain no experience from attacking barricades. Players sometimes light the barricades when an enemy player is coming, as burning barricades take some time to collapse and while burning they cannot be destroyed with an explosive potion.

If you have reached your barricade limit, a message in your chat box will inform you so. Barricades are immune to poison.

On non-designated Castle Wars worlds, barricades will always appear under players. On designated Castle Wars worlds, barricades will appear on top of players.
