Charging air orbs
[edit source]You input 31.5 energy potions, not 44, because you only consume 31.5. You dont magically make new potions, you dont just use doses. at least with a glory you are effectively making a new item that needs to be considered. Also where are you getting the numbers for the glory amounts? they dont make any sense. 14:50, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
- For example, please few of these MMGs: Theatre of Blood (Scythe of vitur), Theatre of Blood (Abyssal Tentacle), Killing Vorkath (Dragon hunter lance), Killing the Alchemical Hydra, Killing Vorkath (Dragon hunter crossbow), Killing Kree'arra, Hallowed Sepulchre, Crafting blood runes, Killing Phosani's Nightmare, Killing Vorkath (Toxic blowpipe), Crafting nature runes through the Abyss, Crafting death runes through the Abyss, Crafting blood runes through the Abyss, Killing The Nightmare, Killing rune dragons, Killing Vet'ion, Killing brutal black dragons, Crafting astral runes, Killing Lizardman Shamans (Canyon), Killing hydras.
- It it made to be accurate to how much you use, not how much you buy. You dont always input all that you buy. If someone wants to modify the runs per hour then its automatically NOT an integer via your way too, and it just makes it way more confusing 15:06, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Fjara: My reasoning for having 42 energy potion(4) as inputs, although they will not all be completely consumed, is that the guide is based on what you can do in one hour's time. The time per run of 170 seconds is based, in part, on banking all inventory at the end of each run.. this would include banking leftover potion doses (and empty vials, if you aren't dropping them during the run) and withdrawing 2 fresh, full energy potion(4) each run.. at 170s per run and 21 runs per hour, there is only a margin of 30 seconds per hour built-in before you'll only be able to complete 20 runs.. meaning the hourly profit is decreased by about 30k, if you're spending extra time each run dicking around with partly full potions at the bank. no, the outputted energy potion(4) are not "magically" created, they are combined from leftovers until the end of the batch in order to make runs as efficient as possible. I'm only trying to make the guide as accurate as possible.
- This message is to Crow as well. While I understand this type of accounting may not be found in other money-making guides, is it not possible that a unique situation is presented in this particular guide which must be accounted for? Regardless, if you're not okay diverting from that precedent, that's fine, but the figure of 1.5 energy potion(4) is slightly off.. it should be 1.625 since half of the runs you'll only need 6 doses and the other half you'll need 7; the input should be 34.125 energy potion(4). - Every MMG is what you can do in an hour's time and the inputs are what you use in that time. I understand your intent and how you got there. The inputs are not always how you should manage your potions. That is for the details section. In this one you need (4)s, other ones say (4)s cuz there isnt a specific reason to do anything else, others have (1)s because you bank and drink just 1. It's not impossible for a person to also buy more than what we recommend, I'd honestly be surprised if people bought exact supplies (not required resources which is more understandable). But this is what the details section is for, you get to have free reign on the best methods without some weird forced-formatting of input/output. You're also not selling the extra doses (presumably) because you might use them elsewhere OR do another hour. It is not accurate to say you consume 42 energy potions and make 7, again I understand how you are getting that, but it just isn't. Your maths for this is assuming bare-bones, no agility, no weight reducing clothing, which is great because its a baseline of requirement. I don't think anyone doing this method besides bots might have 1 Agility or a limitation on their account. 66 magic is hard to get, but its kinda dumb to say were gonna assume your accurate clicking, knowledgable about pathing, bank/invent management enough to do this method somewhat efficienctly, but you don't have any agility or weight reducing clothing. I don't think this is a unique situation. 6 doses should be fine, no? Again, assuming they dont have 1 level in everything else, no boots of lightness/weiht reduc, and 66 magic? 16:01, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hey Dudely, just thought I'd chime in as well: while the money making guides are based on what you can do in one hour's time, this formulation can be a little misleading, as it's more so just an arbitrary measure of time used for the purpose of standardisation. The abstracted "hour of doing the method" is really a means to convey a generalised rate, consisting of an expected profit per measure of time, applicable to any arbitrarily chosen span of time, or for any amount of runs a user expects to be able to fit into a given measure of time, depending on their skill (like Fjara previously indicated). The inputs and outputs are in that sense also an abstraction: we don't assume that people will stock up on supplies to last them for exactly an hour like Fjara said, and so it may well be the case for this method that you need a greater amount of four-dosed energy potions than mentioned in the input to last you a full hour (given that you don't waste time decanting them while doing the method). But as they will still be decanted at some point into fully-dosed potions whenever you're done, they aren't a factor when considering the average amount of supplies you use up – in that sense they're more akin to the "starting capital" we sometimes recommend for methods like alching, but which is likewise just mentioned as something to keep in mind.
- The considerations you write out are definitely very worthwhile, it would be quite appropriate to include those in prose (i.e. the details section) when describing the method, as they're part of the 'practical' considerations or techniques that make up the method. For that abstracted rate however, we can generalise them away. I hope that makes sense, don't let any of this discourage you from contributing more practical considerations or other subtleties for a certain method, as those are also certainly appreciated. Ostentatio and Fjara: I thank you for you patience as I'm learning this wiki, and for your guidance in setting me straight. I hope to not have caused too much of a kerfuffle!
- p.s. I suppose I'm the exception then.. lvl 85 mage and 1 in agility with no weight-reducing clothing.. just finished my 2nd 6-hour batch of air orbs
- I started out buying 9450 cosmic runes, 3150 unpowered orbs, 252 energy potions and 21 glory ammys lol I had 4 full potions leftover and was short only 2 teleports DudelyAbider (talk) 18:40, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
- just haven't gotten to any quests which reward agility exp, and I don't have any other very highly-trained skills for money-makers yet.. grinding F2P money crafting necklaces to afford a bond is mostly all I've done so far, lvl 83 crafting isn't very useful in P2P.. my next best money-maker is crafting and enchanting dragonstone bracelets, and alching the combat bracelets, but I'm really holding out for 87 mage when I can enchant onyx necklaces for 265k profit each lol DudelyAbider (talk) 19:12, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
- ah i gotcha, some of those profits might be deceiving, i dont think onyx necklaces trade often (see: https://prices.runescape.wiki/osrs/item/6577) I'd recommend working on farming (and brewing and birdhouses), doing herb + limpwurt + hops runs when they are available once you get a decent level can keep your members going while you are able to do other things in between 19:41, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
