A crate of swords is an item that may be obtained from a ledger table after taking on a courier task, which must then be delivered to the corresponding destination's port by boarding their boat and sailing to said destination. Players without a crewmate to navigate their boat must store the crate in the cargo hold before they can man the helm.

Multiple of a crate may be required to be delivered for a courier task, in which case players must board their boat multiple times to store the crates (as they can only carry one at a time) or have a crewmate assist them, who will automatically take a crate when the player does so. While any crewmate can carry a crate, those with Deckhandiness levels of at least 3 can carry two at once.

Players cannot unequip the crate normally, nor can they teleport or leave the port area with the crate equipped. If the player leaves the area, a game message appears stating You're leaving port with some cargo. If you do not return it, it will be confiscated by the shipwright wizard's autonomous tracking unit. After 22 ticks (13.2s), the crate will be removed with an accompanying game message stating Your cargo has been confiscated by the S.W.A.T. team.
