Courier tasks

An example courier task.

Courier tasks are a type of port task where players deliver crates of cargo between two ports. A task has the following steps:

  1. Visit a notice board to choose a task.
  2. Collect cargo from the ledger table (both hands must be free). Some tasks require more than one crate, so multiple trips to the boat may be required.
  3. Load the cargo hold on a boat with all the crates of cargo.
  4. Sail to the destination.
  5. Withdraw all the crates from the cargo hold and deposit them at the ledger table.

At level 1 Sailing, only one port task of either type (courier or bounty) can be accepted at a time, with more slots becoming available at higher levels:

Notes

[edit | edit source]
  • Tasks can be freely cancelled by using a port master's cancel-task option, or from the captain's log.
  • If a boat carrying cargo is relocated, such as by summoning it or by sampling drinks in sealed crates, all cargo is removed from the boat's cargo holds.
  • Level requirement to accept tasks is not boostable.
  • The selection of tasks available are unique to each notice board.
  • Players are restricted to using their own boat for courier tasks.
  • Players who deposit the final cargo of a task without having enough inventory space for the reward can complete the task using the Claim-rewards option on a port master after making some space in their inventory.

Rewards

[edit | edit source]

Unloading the cargo at the destination ledger table provides Sailing experience and an equal amount of coins, and rarely, one shark paint.

The experience gained for completing a task is based on distance travelled, such that a round-trip delivery will give double the experience as a one-way trip. For example,

  1. accepting a task in Catherby
  2. picking up cargo in Port Sarim,
  3. and delivering to Catherby

will grant double the experience compared to

  1. accepting in Port Sarim
  2. picking up in Port Sarim
  3. and delivering to Catherby.

Since players can teleport themselves and relocate their boats before loading them with cargo, tasks where the noticeboard and the cargo are in different locations will offer more experience per hour.

Crewmates

[edit | edit source]

Crewmates can be ordered to carry crates between the ledger table and the cargo hold. Those with a deckhandiness stat of 3 or 4 can carry 2 crates at a time.

Trivia

[edit | edit source]
  • Should players attempt to smuggle cargo outside ports, they will be given the You are leaving port with some cargo. If you do not return it, it will be confiscated by the shipwright wizard's autonomous tracking unit. message; if they continue to do so, the cargo will be taken from them (and optionally their crew) and will be given the Your cargo has been confiscated by the S.W.A.T. team. message.
  • There are no direct courier tasks between Lunar Isle and any of the nearby Fremennik settlements, likely due to the longstanding rivalry between the Moon Clan and Fremennik peoples.
