The Great Sound is a body of water that divides the continent of Zeah nearly in two, with Kourend and the Kebos Lowlands to the north and Varlamore to the south. At its eastern end, the Great Sound connects to Crabclaw Bay and empties into the Western Ocean. Several rivers flow into the Great Sound, with some forming the Lacerta Falls at the westernmost point of the sound.

Notable points along its shores include Shipwreck Cove, Auburnvale, the Ruins of Morra, and Land's End. A mooring point can be found at Land's End.

A giant krill shoal is located in the middle of the sound, and some small shipwrecks are found just off the shore of Shipwreck Cove.

Trivia

• In the March 2025 Sailing Alpha, this area of ocean was named "Gulf of Kourend" as a whole. The westernmost end, near Lacerta Falls, was named "Morra Bay"; the area near Land's End was named "Sea's Beginning"; and the mouth of the river near Auburnvale was named "Ayopalli Coast". These smaller labels were removed and the "Gulf of Kourend" label was moved to the area near Port Piscarilius in the June 2025 Sailing Beta.
  • Ayopalli means "auburn" in Nahuatl, suiting its location near Auburnvale and the Auburn Valley.
