Mage Training Arena/Creature Graveyard

A player in the Creature Graveyard.

In the Creature Graveyard, players must collect 4 different types of bones from bone piles around the room, and use the Bones to Bananas or Bones to Peaches spells to turn them into bananas or peaches respectively. The fruits must then be deposited in the slots along the walls of the room to gain Pizazz points.

The bone piles cycle through 4 bone types, giving four of one type before advancing to the next. The bone types are worth 1, 2, 3 or 4 fruit per bone, respectively; a key showing these values can be seen in the interface in the bottom-right of the screen.

For every 16 bananas deposited, and for every 8 peaches deposited, the player gains one Graveyard Pizazz point immediately, and one water, earth, nature, death, or blood rune will be given when leaving the room. Fractional points provide an equivalent percent chance to receive the extra point; for example, 8 bananas or 4 peaches are worth 0.5 points, providing a 50% chance of 1 point and a 50% chance of 0 points. 20 bananas or 10 peaches are worth 1.25 points, providing a 25% chance of 2 points and a 75% chance of 1 point. The points gained seem to be capped to a maximum of 3 per deposit. This means depositing 27 peaches at once has the same effect as depositing 24.

Players will regularly be hit for 2 damage by falling bones, which can be avoided by moving away from the tile that the bones are falling on. Players may wish to simply tank the damage and eat food, restocking from the bank chest in the upstairs area of the Arena if necessary. Bananas heal 2 hitpoints each and peaches heal 8 hitpoints each. It is possible to take a break in the room by leaving open the dialogue box that appears when depositing fruit, which stalls damage.

Dying in the room is a safe death, including for Hardcore Ironmen[1], but will result in a penalty of 10 Pizazz points. As with the other rooms of the Mage Training Arena, teleporting out is not allowed.

Bones to Bananas strategy

[edit | edit source]

Upon entering, head a short way west to the deposit slot. Take bones from the nearest pile, ignoring the other piles. Click on the deposit slot and then cast Bones to Bananas while running to deposit the fruit in the slot. Repeat.

The simplest strategy is to take 13 bones between each cast, since this amount will always convert to at least 28 bananas, guaranteeing a full inventory worth and maximising the value of runes. Depositing a set of 27 bananas grants on average 1.6875 Pizazz points.

Since 13 quality bones from the same pile can be worth up to 37 bananas, wasting up to 5 bones, another strategy is to pull 8 bones at a time for exactly 20 bananas per cast. This uses slightly more runes per hour but wastes less bones and doesn't require a fully empty inventory. For this method, the bone pile must begin on the type of bones worth 2 or 4 fruit each (not 1 or 3 fruit each). An easy way to ensure this is to click the pile 4 times the very first time you start collecting from the pile, shown in the table below as "cycle 1" with 4 extra bones.

This method can give up to 520 Pizazz points per hour.

Cycle Bones to pick up Bananas deposited
1 12 24
2 8 20
3 8 20
Return to cycle 2 (pick up 8 bones every time)

Bones to Peaches strategy

[edit | edit source]

The simplest strategy is the same as with Bones to Bananas, but instead take 12 bones between casts. This guarantees at least 24 peaches, which will always grant 3 full points per deposit. Alternatively, the strategy of picking up 8 bones each time will result in exactly 20 peaches, granting on average 2.5 Pizazz points.

Due to the points per deposit being capped at 3, any peaches deposited over 24 do not give points, though they do give experience. Players may find it beneficial to eat excess peaches (i.e., cycles 2, 3, 4, 5, or 7) to regain health, especially in longer sessions, without losing out on points or runes and reducing bank trips. The following rotation minimises the number of excess peaches generated, and thus maximises points per hour. The rotation begins with 4 bones worth 3 peaches each and 3 bones worth 4 peaches each, shown in the table below as "cycle 1".

This method can give up to 1040 Pizazz points per hour.

Cycle Bones to pick up Peaches deposited
1 7 24
2 12 25
3 10 25
4 9 26
5 12 26
6 8 24
7 11 26
8 11 24
Repeat

Players may find it helpful to understand the theory of the table above: reach the 24-point threshold while gathering the fewest amount of bones. This offers more flexibility in using Bones to Peaches and avoids the rote memorization of the table above.
