Towards the end of the quest, it is revealed that Ketla has actually been Sliske in disguise the entire time, with the real Ketla having died at some point in the past and turned into one of his wights as Ketla the Unworthy.
When the Fremenniks besieged Camdozaal during the Runecrafting Crusades in the early decades of the Fifth Age, Ketla sought shelter in the Lassar Undercity.[1] She hid in a house in the Residential District, before Sliske took on her identity at an unknown point in time.[2]
There is a skeleton on the third floor of Ketla's house, whose examine text is "Smaller than the average skeleton." It is implied that this is the remains of the real Ketla.
^Ketla in Desert Treasure II - The Fallen Empire. Old School RuneScape. "When the barbarians came, many tried to fight. I should have fought with them, but I turned away. I had a duty to my people, but I abandoned them. The barbarians had blocked all exits, so the only way to flee was down. I hid down here while my people died, but now I pay the price for my choice."
^Mod Ed. Desert Treasure II Lore Q&A Livestream. 3 August 2023. ""[Is the implication supposed to be that Sliske had always been these characters or that he replaced them at some point in the story lines?] I might disappoint a few people here, since I'm not going to give a true answer. Because, to be honest, there isn't one. The whole point of it is that you don't know when he replaces them. I've already seen so many speculations about when it might have happened - it’s very much part of it, it’s always open to interpretation.""
