Gooey notes are notes found throughout The Scar during Desert Treasure II - The Fallen Empire. They provide a Saradominist perspective on the aftermath of the assault on the Temple of the Eye.
Notably, the notes are written on very thin flesh rather than parchment, a practice used by Zamorakians. Given that the writer is Saradominist, it can be assumed that they wrote the notes on flesh out of necessity, as said material is plentiful within the Scar.

[edit | edit source]We are forsaken. Trapped in a nightmare beyond our understanding. The lucky ones were killed as the rift was opened. The rest of us must now suffer the horrors of damnation. My duty to the Justiciar was to document her glorious work, but now I document our likely demise. There are five of us in total. Four of light, and one of darkness. We encountered him soon after arriving: A cursed follower of the Empty Lord. We should have killed him in Saradomin's name, but he bore no love for his former Lord. Enduring was his only goal. I don't know what's worse: That he was a servant of the Ruinous Powers, or that he abandoned his god as soon as his faith was tested. Sadly, it seems now is not the time for conflict. He knows of this place, and that knowledge can help us.
Our undesired companion has shared what he knows of this domain. He calls it the Abyss. A realm that sits between all other realms. He claims it's used for teleportation, including by our own people, but he must be lying. I told him no follower of Saradomin would ever use a place like this. He responded with a ludicrous claim. He referred to the Abyss as an empty void, calling the horrors around us invaders. According to him, even the ground we stand on is not of this realm, and that everything we see is a recent addition to what was once an empty nothingness. I asked him what he meant, but he gave no answers. He instead claimed further research was needed.
Five has become four. Ermis was taken as we slept, his screams waking us as he was dragged into darkness. We found him hours later, half devoured by a beast we'd not yet encountered. The beast might have claimed more lives as well, were it not for our Zarosian companion. He fought it off like he'd fought hundreds of these things before, killing it with ease. Afterwards, he claimed it was a chthonian. We'd heard of these horrors before, for they were once servants of the Empty Lord, but this was the first time any of us had set eyes on one. While the rest of us mourned Ermis, our companion vanished. He was gone for what must have been many hours, and when he finally returned, he did so with a look of horror. He claimed the confrontation with the beast had brought about a realisation. He knew why the Abyss had changed. Why it looked the way it did. There's a reason why this place feels alive, and that's because it is. We thought we were facing horrors of darkness in this place, but the truth is far worse: We're inside one!
