Large shipwrecks are a type of salvageable shipwreck found at sea, requiring level 53 Sailing to salvage from with a salvaging hook. Large shipwrecks will yield large salvage, granting 48 Sailing experience; these can then be sorted at a salvaging station (or the boat facility), granting loot and an additional 24 Sailing experience.
Experience rate will vary dependent on the tier of your salvaging hook, and how many you have. Having a second hook manned by a crewmate and a Salvaging station on your vessel will help boost your experience rates. With Jobless Jim and two Mithril salvaging hooks, players can expect 24k+ experience per hour.

Tips and tricks
[edit | edit source]
The shipwrecks are all far from banking locations, so it's recommended to have a salvaging station on your vessel to process the large salvage. Players may swap between salvaging for large salvage and other activities by mooring at The Great Conch, which can be returned to by chartering to the The Summer Shore or via the fairy ring CJQ.
There are several spots where you can position your boat between two shipwrecks, to more consistently be able to salvage without moving.
Use your salvaging station when your inventory or cargo is full of salvage. If there are no shipwrecks, sort through the salvage in your cargo hold that your crew mate has acquired.
You can process and store most of the items you get from large salvage in a variety of ways without leaving your boat, although the time spent doing this will lead to less sailing experience per hour than just dropping.
- With level 7 Magic, bring cosmic runes and water runes to cast Lvl-1 Enchant on sapphire rings into rings of recoil, then add them to a ring of suffering. If you don't have a ring of suffering, you can alchemise the sapphire rings instead.
- Alchemy spells may also be used on emerald rings, diamond rings, gold rings and the oyster pearls (the 3-pearl variety).
- With level 41 Fletching, bring a chisel to turn oyster pearl (both the 1- and 3-pearl kinds) into pearl bolt tips.
- With level 46, bring a knife to fletch the teak logs into teak stocks, then discard. You can also keep a set of logs for doing tick manipulation with the salvaging hook, or bring a log basket to store them for future use. It is not possible to light a fire on a boat.
- Bring a gem bag to store uncut gems received from caskets. Alternatively, you can cut the gemstones for Crafting experience, then fletch them into bolt tips.
- Bring a seed box to store the hemp, cotton and camphor seeds, as well as the frags.
- Bring a plank sack to store the oak planks, or use high alchemy on them.
The remaining items are mostly stackable, such as the nails and cannonballs. The giant seaweed could be cooked on a range, but this doesn't give Cooking experience and the resulting soda ash takes a lot of inventory space.
