Forestry/Strategies
Forestry events spawn frequency
[edit | edit source]A single location with a few trees actively being chopped is likely to see somewhere between roughly 3-7 Events per hour on average. These events could happen almost as quickly as back-to-back spawning, or there could be gaps of 20 minutes or more between them. Places that have more trees being actively chopped on will tend to see more frequent spawns.
The frequency of events is determined by the Woodcutting level of the tree and the players surrounding it. A standard Woodcutting skill roll is 4 ticks. Note that any of the nine events that spawn are determined by the success of the skilling roll. For example, a Struggling Sapling Event spawns at the end of the despawn time of a felled tree. Below are the maximum skill rolls each player can get with the following trees:
| Tree | Despawn time | Respawn time | Skill rolls[t 1] | Despawn/Respawn Cycles[t 2] | Skill rolls/Hour[t 3] |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oak tree | 27 seconds | 8.4 seconds | 11 | 101.69 | 1118 |
| Willow tree | 30 seconds | 8.4 seconds | 12 | 93.75 | 1125 |
| Teak tree | 30 seconds | 9 seconds | 12 | 92.31 | 1107 |
| Maple tree | 1 minute | 35.4 seconds | 25 | 37.74 | 943 |
| Hollow tree | 36 seconds | 25.8 seconds | 15 | 58.25 | 873 |
| Mahogany tree | 1 minute | 8.4 seconds | 25 | 52.63 | 1315 |
| Arctic pine tree | 1 minute, 24 seconds | 8.4 seconds | 35 | 38.96 | 1363 |
| Yew tree | 1 minute, 54 seconds | 59.4 seconds | 47 | 20.76 | 975 |
| Magic tree | 3 minutes, 54 seconds | 1 minute, 59.4 seconds | 97 | 10.19 | 988 |
| Redwood tree | 4 minutes, 24 seconds | 1 minute, 59.4 seconds | 110 | 9.39 | 1032 |
Please note that the time between events is between 40-120 seconds. Certain events have longer max event times in which the player or players must complete the event quickly to maximise anima-bark rates.
Example: Three Yew trees at Seers' Village church vs six Yew trees at flax field
[edit | edit source]To quantify how much more frequently Forestry events spawn near the Flax field compared to the Seers' Village church, consider the following:
- Events trigger based on Woodcutting skill rolls, which occur every 4 ticks (2.4 seconds) per player. Each tree provides an independent chance to roll an event.
- Tree Density Difference:
- Seers' Village Church: 3 Yew trees
- Seers' Village Flax Field: 6 Yew trees
- Skill Rolls Per Hour for Yew Trees:
- A single Yew tree provides 975 skill rolls per hour. With 3 trees at the church, the total is: 3 trees × 975 skill rolls per hour = 2,925 skill rolls per hour.
- With 6 trees at the Flax field, the total is: 6 trees × 975 skill rolls per hour = 5,850 skill rolls per hour.
- Event Rate Scaling:
- Assuming each skill roll has an independent chance of triggering an event, doubling the number of trees should roughly double the number of event rolls per hour. If a player at the church gets X events per hour, a player at the flax field (with twice the number of trees) should get 2X events per hour, assuming at least 10 players are actively cutting all available trees.
Interacting with the various Forestry Events
[edit | edit source]- Bees/Hives event- Put logs into the hives when they appear. The chance to get beehive parts is on each hive completion that you helped to build.
- Dryad/Ritual event- Stand in the "odd one out" spot that appears. RuneLite "Woodcutting" plugin will highlight the correct one, or just follow the crowd.
- Flowers event- Find the two correct flowers and take the pollen you get back and forth between them. Periodically, the cycle will shift and you'll need to seek out the next flower pair.
- Leprechaun event- Briefly stand in the rainbows when they appear. Bank with the Leprechaun, if needed.
- Poachers/Fox event- Click the traps that spawn to disarm them, saving the fox.
- Pheasant/Egg event- Click the nest that has no bird in it to steal an egg, then hand it to the forester. Repeat until the event ends. The birds will occasionally leave and return, and will briefly stun and steal back an egg from players adjacent to the nest upon their return.
- Roots event- Chop the tree roots that spawn to receive Xp/Anima. A little bit after the event begins, a Root that looks different (and offers better rewards) will appear in the cycles, and you will want to be chopping it. RuneLite "Woodcutting" plugin highlights will show this root more easily.
- Sapling event- Click the various piles three times to make fertilizer, then click the sapling to use it. Figuring out the right combination of ingredients will give more Xp/Anima. RuneLite "Woodcutting" plugin highlights will make this much easier, and players will often post the right code in-game chat once it is known.
- Friendly Ent event- Prune the ents that appear using a trim style which will result in the haircut they ask for. It is recommended (if on RuneLite) to menu entry swap "Top" to be the left click option and "Back" to be the shift-click option, as all ents can be pruned using one of these two styles, and pruning this way is much faster.
- Using the RuneLite client, it is recommended to set the left-click action to the "prune top" option and set the shift left-click action to the "prune back" option (or vice-versa), and one of those options will always be able to successfully prune an entling faster than right-clicking and choosing a prune option. It is also recommended to set both the left-click and shift-left click options on pruned entlings to the "walk here" option for easier pruning, in cases where the entlings stand on top of one another. The "ForestryCC" Friends Chat-channel created a standard operating procedure where a single entling is prioritised to be fully pruned before moving on to the next highest request. This ensures at least one entling is fully pruned, granting a 20% chance of spawning an egg nest per each fully pruned entling. The priority is as follows:
| Request/Prune Action | Priority (1 - Highest, 4 - Lowest) |
|---|---|
| Short on top! (Prune top) | 1 |
| A leafy mullet! (Prune top) | 2 |
| Short back and sides! (Prune back) | 3 |
| Breezy at the back! (Prune back) | 4 |
- In cases where multiple entlings have a or any other request listed above, prune the entling that most players are interacting with. This will ensure the priority is kept the same throughout the event.
- NPC Highlights also found using the RuneLite client can also be used to set different colour highlighting on the unfinished and finished entlings for easier visual differentiation.
Rewards per event
[edit | edit source]Below is a table of rewards, scaled assuming level 50 in every skill and no extra bonuses (such as skilling outfits). The math underlying the experience and bark numbers is based on the formulas published on the individual event pages. "Actions per event" is subjective based on a low sample size and may need adjustment.

- ^ The player's play style and level of attention may greatly affect this number.
- ^ No more than 256 bark is ever rewarded, but it is useful to see the relative rate at which different events accumulate rewards.
- ^ This assumes one of: oak/willow/maple/teak/mahogany logs
- ^ Players using the Menu Entry Swapper plugin for Entlings are likely to exceed this number significantly, especially in the case of a highly scaled Entling spawn.
Suggested equipment
[edit | edit source]Note: Any type of Forestry or Lumberjack clothing piece (except the Twitcher's Gloves) can be stored inside the Forestry kit if the player purchases and uses the clothes pouch blueprint on the Forestry kit.

Equipment Notes
[edit | edit source]- Wearing either the Forestry outfit or the Lumberjack outfit full sets gives the same full set 2.5% experience bonus. The Forestry kit can hold both these outfits, and may be beneficial to wear weight-reducing clothing.
- It is recommended to use a felling axe if needing to level up in Woodcutting faster. This is due to the bonus 10% Woodcutting experience that players can earn if they also have Forester's rations in their inventory or inside their Forestry kit.
- A strung rabbit foot requires level 24 Hunter to wear and has a chance of obtaining bird nests that have eggs or rings at a 3/95 rate rather than seeds at a 3/100 rate[1]. This effect can stack with wearing a pair of twitcher's gloves[2].
- Rada's blessing (3 or 4 recommended) may be worn due to players gathering near the magic trees to the south-east or yew trees to the west of the Kourend Woodland teleport the blessing provides.
- A Lightbearer ring is recommended if multispotting two trees to get the most anima bark.
- Players are recommended to have the Standard spellbook enabled to teleport to different locations if part of the Forestry-dedicated friends chat.
