Fonts are used for rendering text in Old School RuneScape.

List of fonts

There are currently 15 fonts in the game. Ten of those are unique to Old School and are shown in the table below.

As Fairy and Fairy Large do not support numbers and lowercase letters, they are not shown in the specimen images below.

In addition to the above, five variants of Verdana are used throughout the game, including in the world map: verdana_11pt_regular, verdana_11pt_bold, verdana_13pt_regular, verdana_13pt_bold, and verdana_15pt_regular.

Supported characters

All characters are stored in the game cache as bitmap sprites. Fonts support rendering most characters covered by Windows-1252 (a.k.a. cp1252) character encoding. Compared to Plain 11, Plain 12 and Bold 12 have 4 additional characters:

Some fonts support showing unique characters not seen outside the game: a symbol of Xeric associated with the Twisted League, a chevron associated with the Trailblazer League (2020), and one or two symbols associated with the Shattered Relics League. These symbols may respectively represent the following characters according to their Windows-1252 placement:

The en dash (–) is not rendered even though it appears in dialogue, such as in Terry Balando's.
