Metal dragons can be assigned by high-levelled slayer masters as a potential task.

Players have many options for killing these dragons:

Of these dragons, only mithril dragons cannot be cannoned. All metal dragons are capable of using melee and long range dragonfire, which rolls differently compared to chromatic dragonfire. Unlike chromatic dragons, where Protect from Magic would block most of the damage, metal dragons aren't affected by it, thus making an anti-dragon shield mandatory if not using a super antifire potion. Mithril, adamant and rune dragons are also able to use both magic and ranged, with the latter two additionally having a special ranged attack that mimics ruby and onyx enchanted bolts respectively.

As with all dragons, metal dragons have the draconic attribute, making them susceptible to the dragon hunter lance, dragon hunter crossbow and dragon hunter wand. They are also weakest to stab and heavy ranged attacks, although the higher levelled metal dragons are more resistant to the latter. Additionally, all of these dragons have a 50% vulnerability to earth spells.

If players are seeking a fast task of dragons, they are recommended to kill bronze dragons at Brimhaven Dungeon's slayer-only area, where five of them can be found in a small area which is cannonable. Alternatively, iron dragons may be cannoned instead if seeking the draconic visage, as bronze dragons do not drop them and iron dragons are still fairly easy to kill. If seeking profit, kill rune dragons instead. It is not recommended to kill other dragons apart from collection log purposes. Metal dragons as a slayer task also have an incredibly high weight value (the most out of all potential tasks) so players should determine whether or not to block them depending on what tasks they are looking for.
