The rusty chest is located on Dognose and Vatrachos Islands requiring level 40 and 46 Sailing respectively to moor at. It requires 33 Thieving level to picklock. A lockpick is not required to open it, but increases the success rate of opening the chest.

Upon failing to pick the lock, there is a chance^{[clarification needed]} to be teleported away from the chest. On Vatrachos Island, it teleports you near the raccoon, whereas on Dognose Island, it teleports you to near the mooring point.

The chest is a great source of elkhorn frags, giving them at a higher rate than other frags.
