A small fishing net is used to catch fish such as shrimps, anchovies, karambwanji, minnows, and monkfish. Nets can be purchased from various fishing shops for 5 coins. It can also be obtained for free from either the Fishing tutor south of Lumbridge near the coast east of the swamp, or from the Spirit Angler at the Ruins of Unkah.

Hunting

The small fishing net, used along with a rope, can also be used in the Hunter skill to capture swamp lizards and salamanders.

6 August 2025 (Update)	Fixed a bug where the small fishing nets in the Sunset Coast and Shipwreck Cove could not be picked up by Ironmen.
16 March 2022 (Update \| poll)	A small fishing net can now be found in the entrance building of the Fishing Guild.
13 December 2018 (Update)	Iron players can now take the net found in the Ruins in the Wilderness and in Lumbridge Swamp.

Prior to the Christmas Event 2018 update, ironmen were not able to pick up small fishing nets that spawned on the ground, including the ones in the Wilderness near the Bandit Camp and in the Lumbridge Swamp, due to preventing an exploit taking priority over the fix.^[1]^[2]
Iron players who disconnect whilst using small nets in a hunter activity are currently unable to pick the net back up upon logging back in. Ropes remain unaffected.
