Warped creatures can be assigned as a slayer task starting at level 56 Slayer by Chaeldar, Konar, Nieve, and Duradel, and will only be assigned if the player has unlocked them with the Warped Reality slayer point reward. Warped creatures are found exclusively in the Poison Waste Dungeon, requiring completion of The Path of Glouphrie.

Players must have the crystal chime in their inventory to fight them, otherwise they will be invulnerable.

Warped Tortoises are relatively simple to fight, as they only deal melee damage, which is fully negated by Protect from Melee, although they are weak enough that high crush defence is sufficient to slay them as well. They are available directly at the entrance of the dungeon, making shorter trips viable as banking with the Spirit tree is easy. Further into the dungeon, some of the tortoises can be safespotted behind various pillars, so defeating them with Ranged and Magic is also viable.

For Warped Terrorbirds, it is recommended to wear earmuffs or a Slayer helmet to halve their max hit and reduce chip damage through Protect from Missiles from their ranging attacks. They can attack with both melee and ranged, and will react to players' protection prayers and will switch the style they attack with after an attack is blocked with the correct prayer. This can be exploited where if only one is able to reach the player at melee distance and others are attacking at a range then players can use Protect from Missiles for a few seconds which will make all attacking terrorbirds switch to melee attacks and attempt to move into melee distance. If they are unable to reach the player doing this they will not switch back to using ranged attacks and instead stop attacking. This can be set up relatively easily by standing in corners so that only one or two of them can reach you with melee while the rest are stuck behind them.

While the warped tortoises are not aggressive, the warped terrorbirds are, and can quickly defeat an unprepared player. The terrorbirds also never lose aggression, making most parts of the dungeon with them unable to be used for safespots.

Equipment

[edit | edit source]

10001000

This setup is used if planning to fight the warped tortoises with use of Protect from Melee, to negate all damage and increase AFK time. Prayer gear should be the focus to save on prayer potions more effectively afk. The Sarachnis cudgel can be substituted for any melee weapon, although the tortoises are weak to Crush, so they are the preferred choice. Maces also possess a Prayer bonus of their own, making them extra beneficial for this setup.

  • Before obtaining a black mask, replace with the best melee strength or prayer headgear item available, such as the Helm of neitiznot.
  • Runes are brought for casting High Level Alchemy to avoid needing to return to the bank to store valuable item drops.
  • Earmuffs should be worn on the run past the terrorbirds to reach the desired area for fighting tortoises(assuming you do not wish to fight the ones at the entrance), and may be dropped after reaching them if you have a teleport out.
  • Grand seed pod can be replaced with a charged (and worn) Ring of wealth, as it will also transport a player near both a Bank and a Spirit tree with its teleport to the Grand Exchange.
  • Prayer potions can be substituted for Moonlight moth mixes to save on costs, at the cost of trip length.
    • Black warlock mixes and Ruby harvest mixes may also be used to the same effect; although these typically have a very low volume on the Grand Exchange so you would need to create them yourself.

10001000

This setup is used for safespotting the warped tortoises, using this safespot. Any fast ranged weapon will prove effective, and no resources are needed as the player cannot be reached by the tortoises to be attacked. The Hunters' sunlight crossbow can be substituted for any ranged weapon, and although the tortoises are weak to heavy ranged weapons, such as crossbows, faster weapons like shortbows, throwing knives, or the toxic blowpipe will more often perform better. If your Strength stat is at least roughly equal to or higher than your Ranged stat, the Eclipse atlatl can be the best option for them, especially if using high strength bonus items like an amulet of strength, barrows gloves, and berserker ring (i). If using the atlatl, remember to bring both Ranging potions and Super strength potions.

  • Proselyte can be worn instead to save on prayer potions, for only a small loss in dps.
  • Prayer potions are not needed if not intending to use Eagle eye.
  • Runes are brought for casting High Level Alchemy to avoid needing to return to the bank to store valuable item drops.
  • Before obtaining or imbueing a black mask, replace with the best ranged or prayer headgear item available, such as a Mitre or Shayzien helm 5.
  • Earmuffs should be worn on the run past the terrorbirds to reach the safespot area, and may be dropped after reaching them if you have a teleport out.
  • Grand seed pod can be replaced with a charged (and worn) Ring of wealth, as it will also transport a player near both a Bank and a Spirit tree.
  • Prayer potions can be substituted for Moonlight moth mixes to save on costs, at the cost of trip length.

Terrorbirds safespotting

[edit | edit source]
  • Must bring a weapon with at least 9 tile of range, such as the Crystal bow or Craw's bow. crossbows and shortbows can also reach while using the "Longrange" attack style, however this results in much less DPS than the previously mentioned weapons.
    • If lacking a naturally longrange Ranged weapon like the Crystal bow, Craw's bow, or Ballista, Maging will typically be better damage.
  • See images below on how to safespot them using the doors near the entrance.

20000200001000

This setup is used for safespotting the warped tortoises, using this safespot. While generally less damage than using Ranged, it is an alternative option that is still reasonably effective. The Twinflame staff casting Earth spells is one of the better options for this, although at higher Magic levels some powered staves like the Trident of the seas can outperform it, especially if using boosts.

  • Monk robes can be worn instead to save on prayer potions, for only a small loss in dps, assuming no max hits are lost, such as if you have robes with magic damage like Ahrim's robes.
  • Prayer potions are not needed if not intending to use Mystic might.
  • Runes are brought for casting the highest level Earth spell available, and for High Level Alchemy to avoid needing to return to the bank to store valuable item drops. Using a Dust battlestaff or the Twinflame staff will provide the elemental runes for each spell, respectively.
  • Before obtaining or imbueing a black mask, replace with the best magic or prayer headgear item available, such as a Mitre or Bloodbark helm.
  • For Ironmen, the occult necklace should be replaced with either a Stole, Unholy symbol, or Amulet of magic, as it cannot be obtained until a much higher Slayer level.
  • Magic potions or Forgotten brews may be optionally brought if using a powered staff, as they will often gain substantial DPS when boosted.

Terrorbirds safespotting

[edit | edit source]
  • All magic weapons and cast spells are able to reach the terrorbirds for the safespot, except for the Eye of ayak. As warped terrorbirds lack an elemental weakness, a powered staff on the "Longrange" attack style will be better on average.
  • See images below on how to safespot them using the doors near the entrance.

Cannoning

[edit | edit source]

One of the best locations to place a cannon is here and standing up against a wall or waste pit. Most terrorbirds that are targeted by the cannon will never be able to attack you. This is due to the monster's pathfinding causing them to be stuck on the other side of the waste pit and eachother.

[edit | edit source]

Below are some visual examples of areas where Warped Creatures can be safespotted, but there are more that are not shown throughout the cave, as there are many small obstacles, waste pits, and corners. Any of the safespots further in the dungeon require protect from missiles and earmuffs to safely reach, but can be a useful option if the entrance is already occupied by another player.
