Big Mo was a travelling sales and businessman who visited the mainland for a period of 30 days. He was located in a random location each day, and was only available during May 2015. Once per day during May 2015, he offered players a clue scroll for 50 coins. Players could pick the tier of clue scroll, but were not guaranteed to receive a clue scroll of that tier. However, the more clue scrolls the player purchased, the more likely they were to receive the tier of scroll they asked for.

Each day at midnight (00:00) GMT, Big Mo moved to a new location. His location was hinted by the official Old School RuneScape Twitter feed.

A total of 104,405 players spoke to Mo, 88,527 of whom bought 1 clue. 46,968 players bought 4 or more clues and only a total of 1,700 players bought a clue every single day during the event.

He made a reappearance in the Realm of Memories during the 20th and 25th Anniversary events.

Trivia

edit
  • Big Mo mentions he is from a distant land beyond Karamja. This was originally intended to mean Zeah,[1] which hadn't yet released at the time. In the Realm of Memories, he references this, saying that he deliberately didn't tell people where he came from, and that most assumed him to be from Zeah. He follows up by saying that no one in Zeah looks like him, and that he's leaving his true origins a mystery.
  • Big Mo has a younger brother, Little Mo.
  • The 31st of May clue is a reference to a Star Wars joke from the series Family Guy, in which Emperor Palpatine says something similar as his way to create great Star Wars dialogue.
  • When asked why he doesn't solve the clues himself, he says "HA! Sure, the guy in a 50,000,000 coin suit is going to run around all day digging holes. Come on!" This is a play on one of Gob Bluth's catch phrases in Arrested Development.
  • Big Mo is very tall- he is around 1.5x the height of the player character.
