Malignius Mortifer is a Zamorakiannecromancer who can be found just north-west of Port Sarim. He cannot be attacked, and has 4 apprentice wizards, one for each of the traditional elements: an air wizard, a water wizard, an earth wizard, and a fire wizard. Mortifer will often try to raise the dead, but sometimes fails and creates fungus. Occasionally, he will summon a skeleton, skeleton mage, zombie or a ghost. They will follow Mortifer if the necromancy is successful. If a player annoys him by asking about his outfit, he will cast a spell that temporarily transforms the player into a mushroom.
He is involved in the questsSwan Song and Fairytale I - Growing Pains. Mortifer calls himself a 'great practitioner' and a 'master' of the magic arts; he once triumphed over a Tanglefoot, and is known to the Dark Wizard Zandar Horfyre. Mortifier also possesses knowledge of the Nature Spirit. If you speak to him after you have completed Rune Mysteries, he will let on that he is a follower of Zamorak, and he will tell you about the burning of the Wizards' Tower. If Enter the Abyss has also been completed, he will acknowledge the player's efforts in providing the Zamorak Magical Institute with the incantation for the Rune Essence mine, which may suggest that he is a member of the ZMI himself.
Apparently, "a slight accident involving a bottle of Malignius-Mortifer's-Super-Ultra-Flora-Growth-Potion" resulted in the creation of the Giant mole.[1] This is further supported in the 2018 Easter event, where Chocco attributes the creation of a giant mole to Malignius.

Malignius Mortifer is Latin for Deadly Wickedness.
When trying to summon his creatures, Mortifer speaks in Latin, saying the words: "Veni cohortes malefici", which means "Come, evil cohorts" or the words "Da mihi potentiam!" which means "Give me power".
"Veni cohortes malefici" contains a grammatical mistake. Since "cohortes malefici" is plural, the verb should take the plural form venite.
When you talk to him with an item aligned to Saradomin, Guthix or Zamorak and ask him if necromancy is similar to summoning, he will answer back with different responses:
Saradomin: "Saradominist Fool! You will get no secrets from me!"
Zamorak: "Although I note your respects for our Lord Zamorak, I am afraid the subtle secrets of necromancy must remain beyond your grasp."
Guthix: "Deluded lover of Guthix, you will get no secrets from me!"
If you don't wear anything aligned to them, he says: "The obscure magical art of necromancy has nothing to do with Summoning." and he explains why.
He will refuse to give you bone seeds or a brown apron if you have an item of Saradomin worn or in the inventory.
When trying to give Mortifer an item, he replies "Oi - Stop waving your items at me!"
