Giant pouches are the second best essence pouches and can hold 12 rune, pure, daeyalt, or guardian essence for use in the Runecraft skill. This item requires level 75 Runecraft to use. This item is dropped by some of the Abyssal monsters in the Abyss. It can also be acquired as a reward from Guardians of the Rift by searching the Rewards Guardian.

After it has been used to store ~130 essence (or approximately 11 full uses)^[1], the pouch degrades and holds three fewer essence. Every two to three uses after results in an additional one less essence that the pouch can hold, and it will eventually disintegrate completely, and must be reacquired thereafter. It can be repaired by talking to Dark mage either in person in the Abyss or through NPC Contact. The giant pouch, like its smaller variants, does not degrade if the player is wearing a Runecraft cape or max cape when filling it.

Cordelia in the Temple of the Eye is also able to repair essence pouches at a cost of one abyssal pearl, though this service requires 25 abyssal pearls to unlock first.

The pouch is only dropped if the player does not already have one in their inventory or bank, and lower-tiered pouches are owned and stored in your bank. The Runecraft level (75) is not necessary to have in order for the pouch to be dropped.

8 January 2025 (Update)	The left-click/tap option on Runecrafting Pouches will now dynamically swap between “Fill” and “Empty”, depending on their status and what you have in your Inventory.
8 November 2018 (Update)	The degraded pouch was graphically updated to distinguish it from the regular version.
18 May 2017 (Update)	Shift-clicking now empties the pouch instead of dropping it.
23 February 2017 (Update \| poll)	Runecrafting pouches will no longer degrade if a Runecrafting skillcape or Max cape is worn while filling the pouch. Existing pouches which are degraded will not be repaired in any way with this change, but they will also not degrade any further whilst a Runecrafting skillcape or Max cape is worn.
