A swift marlin is a rare variant of marlin caught while rod fishing or trawling at a marlin, glistening, or vibrant shoal. Upon a successful roll for a catch, players or crewmates have a 1/6,000 chance to obtain one from a marlin shoal, an effective 1/40,000 chance from a glistening shoal, and an effective 1/6,000 chance from a vibrant shoal.
Catching one results in the game message You catch a swift marlin! instead of the usual You catch a marlin!. If a crewmate catches it, the game message will show Jolly Jim catches a swift marlin! for example.
When obtained while trawling, the collection log entry will be completed, even if the player does not collect the swift marlin from their trawling net.
