Calquat trees are Farming plants grown at level 72 Farming. A calquat tree is grown by planting a calquat sapling in the calquat patches located in Tai Bwo Wannai, Kastori or the Great Conch. To protect the tree from disease while growing, one may pay the nearby gardener 8 poison ivy berries, which may be noted. There is no quest requirement for any of this. The calquat farming patch can be cleared by using a spade on the barren tree. Even though the calquat tree is classified as tree, the player can immediately clear the patch without chopping it down with an axe, similar to a bush patch.
Planting the calquat sapling gives 129.5 Farming experience. A healthy calquat tree, when checked, provides 12,096 Farming experience. A fully grown calquat tree will produce six calquat fruits, which grant 48.5 Farming experience each when picked, for a total of 12,516.5 experience per seed from planting to harvest. Calquat trees can be harvested repeatedly, with a calquat fruit growing back every 20 minutes for a maximum of six.
Checking the health of a calquat tree is a requirement for the Elite Karamja Diary.
The calquat tree is often considered an ideal plant for training Farming due to the low price of a calquat sapling (and calquat tree seed) and large amounts of experience gained. However, the tree's long growth time and the fact that there are only three patches for it to grow in limits its overall effectiveness.
