The fire max cape is the result of combining a fire cape with a max cape, during which the max hood required to be in the player's inventory will automatically convert to the fire max hood.

Like the other max cape variants (a max cape combined with another cape slot item), the fire max cape does not have the max cape's stats or perks with the following exceptions when worn:

It acts as a Cooking cape to allow access to the Cooks' Guild without a chef's hat, golden chef's hat, Varrock armour 3 or 4
It acts as a Crafting cape to allow access to the Crafting Guild without a brown apron or golden apron
It acts as a Runecraft cape to prevent essence pouches from degrading (but does not allow access to runic altars)
It acts as a Firemaking cape to work as a piece of warm clothing
It can be used to perform the Skill Cape emote.

The max cape and fire cape can be separated by using a knife on the cape. Mac will also buy back a max cape, along with its variants, for 1,900,800 coins each. He will return the secondary item any max cape variant was combined with upon doing so.

If the player dies above level 20 Wilderness and the cape is unprotected, it will be converted into coins when dropped. If they die below level 20 Wilderness, it will remain in their inventory; however, it will be unusable and must be repaired by Perdu for 99,000 coins.

A fire max cape cannot be gambled for a chance at Tzrek-jad.
