Fishing bait is an item used with the fishing rod. It is used to fish in any fishing spot as long as the spot has the Bait Fishing Spot option. Each successful catch uses up one piece of bait, so bring an appropriate amount in your inventory if you wish to catch a lot of fish.
Fishing bait can also be used for barbarian fishing, replacing feathers as bait.
Most shops that sell fishing bait also sell bait packs, which contain 100 bait per pack.
Using fishing bait with a fishing rod, you can catch the following types of fish:

Trivia
[edit | edit source]- During the quest Recipe for Disaster, fishing bait is revealed to be maggots. This explains why decaying zombies and many other undead creatures drop fishing bait.
- The Catherby Bait Delivery task, on the other hand, has Gerrant claiming they're "literally just worms".
- The buy limit of fishing bait (8,000) means that a player cannot buy enough (10,000) all at once off the Grand Exchange to build a chum spreader without waiting for the buy limit to refresh in 4 hours.
