A silver bar is a bar of metal, refined through the Smithing skill by smelting a silver ore in a furnace, requiring 20 Smithing and granting 13.7 Smithing experience. It may also be bought (or stolen) from a silver merchant, such as the one in Ardougne market, or from other players.

The primary use of a silver bar is to create jewellery with the Crafting skill. To craft silver bars into jewellery players must use a silver bar on a furnace with a proper mould in their inventory. If players wish to craft jewellery with gems inset, the cut gems must be present in the player's inventory before crafting the jewellery. One silver bar is used during the Creature of Fenkenstrain quest, and another during Shadow of the Storm.

Unlike gold bars, which cannot be made into weapons, silver bars can be made into silver sickles. They can also be ground to silver dust in the Ectofuntus grinder for use as an ingredient in the guthix balance potion.

Currently, smelting a silver bar yields a profit of 30.

One effective method of gathering silver bars is exchanging reward tokens gained for completing Temple Trekking minigame. This method is commonly used by ironman players, as it can net upwards of 1000 silver bars per hour.
