Desert lizards are Slayer monsters found in the Kharidian Desert, requiring level 22 Slayer to kill. In order to kill a desert lizard, an ice cooler must be used when it has less than 5 Hitpoints. If an ice cooler is used on a desert lizard with 5 or more Hitpoints, the cooler will be consumed but have no effect. Players can buy the "Reptile freezer" perk from a Slayer Master for 10 Slayer points, which will automatically ice the desert lizard when it falls below 5 Hitpoints, provided that the player has an ice cooler in their inventory.

The lizards are located south-east of the Shantay Pass, across the River Elid, roaming around south of the area where orange salamanders can be caught. The easiest route to get there is by taking a magic carpet ride to the temples of Uzer, then heading south-west. Alternatively, players with access to fairy rings can use the code DLQ to get to them faster.

The lizards are found in areas affected by desert heat, so players are advised to bring a water source like waterskins to avoid taking damage from the heat. Those with access to the fairy ring system can easily refill waterskins by re-entering Zanaris and using the water fountain located north of the fairy ring.

Alternatively, if you do not wish to carry waterskins, there are two Desert Lizards and two Small Lizards that spawn on the edge of Uzer Oasis, south-west of the tea shop. You will not lose health due to the desert heat when attacking these lizards.

Slaying one is a requirement for the Medium Desert Diary.

Ancient Magicks ice spells do not count in place of using an ice cooler for the final blow.
