Coins.

Currencies are items for which the primary purpose is to be exchanged (for other items, services, or experience) in a consistent, repeatable fashion. Currencies are typically stackable and can be traded for a multitude of things.

Minigames often reward specific items or points that can be spent only in their respective reward shops, commonly referred to as "minigame currencies."

Traditional currencies

edit

Coins (gold pieces or "gp") are the main form of currency and are almost universal throughout Gielinor, as they are accepted by most shops.

Currency Location Example usage
Most of Gielinor Player trading, Grand Exchange, most NPC shops
Any banker or bank Fixed exchange rate of 1,000 coins : 1 Platinum token

Local currencies

edit

The following currencies can only be spent within a particular territory.

Currency Location Example usage
Port Phasmatys Passage into Port Phasmatys, charging the Bonecrusher
Fossil Island Opening chests on the island, charging the Ancient wyvern shield
Mor Ul Rek Purchasing onyx or obsidian equipment
Tai Bwo Wannai Purchasing clothing, entering the hardwood grove

Ring of wealth

edit

The ring of wealth has a toggleable "Coin Collection" effect that automatically collects certain currencies when dropped by monsters:

Tai Bwo Wannai Parcel Service

edit

For a fee of ten trading sticks per item, Rionasta will deliver items from the player's inventory to their bank, but will not ship any item he recognises as a currency. Attempting to do so will result in the message You cannot send any form of currency through the parcel service.

Minigame/activity rewards

edit
