The runecraft cape is a Cape of Accomplishment that may only be acquired and worn by players who have achieved the maximum level in the Runecraft skill, 99. Once players have trained to this level, they may purchase the cape from Aubury, located in his rune shop in east Varrock - south of the bank - for which a fee of 99,000 coins is charged. When this fee is paid, the player receives both the cape and the runecraft hood.

Like all skillcapes, the runecraft cape gives +9 to all defensive stats, and also a +4 bonus to prayer if it is trimmed, which requires a second skill of 99. The cape is automatically trimmed if this condition is met. In addition, Aubury's Rune Shop has separate stock for runes when 99 Runecraft is achieved.
When the runecraft cape is equipped, it will act as a substitute to all runecraft talismans and tiaras, allowing access to all runic altars by equipping the cape. In addition, essence pouches will not degrade while filling them.
This item can be stored in the cape rack of a costume room, as part of the Runecraft cape set, along with the hood. Ultimate Ironmen will be unable to retrieve individual pieces until the full set is stored.
As of 1 April 2026, there are 118,694 players that have achieved level 99 in Runecraft.

| 23 February 2017 (Update | poll) |
Runecrafting pouches will no longer degrade if a Runecrafting skillcape or Max cape is worn while filling the pouch. Existing pouches which are degraded will not be repaired in any way with this change, but they will also not degrade any further whilst a Runecrafting skillcape or Max cape is worn. |
| 3 December 2015 (Update | poll) |
When equipped, the Runecraft cape acts as all tiaras. |
Trivia
[edit | edit source]- Despite being a Members object, it can be used to enter all of the altars on Free-to-play worlds.
- As the Runecraft cape is banned on Entrana it cannot be used to access the law altar.
- Even though the Rune Mysteries quest is required to use experience rewards on Runecraft, this cape can be bought without completing the quest.[1]
